Show To Welcome tho Volunteers. Tho citizen's meeting at tho court house last evening, called to arrange for tho welcoming homo of tho volunteers, volun-teers, had a very small attendance. Mayor S. S. Jones acted as chairman and called upon Mr. Ilelme to explain what ncllon tho G. A. R. Intended to tako. Mr. Helmestatod that on August Aug-ust 83 tho G. A. R. would hold their first State reunion at Saltalrand would entertain as guests soldiers of all our country's wars, nnd the Utah Volunteers Volun-teers would be tho especial guests of honor. He stated that this reunion, however, would In no way interfere with local homo-welcomlngs. Reed Smooi moved that a commlitco of three be elected to make all preparations prepa-rations for the local event, to watch fnriheduto and appoint such other committees as might be necessary. Tho motion curilcd ami S. S. Joucs, Reed Smoot and R. R. lrvlno were elected. Mr. Smoot stated that a complete list of tho returning volunteors could be secured as soon as thoy arrived at San Francisco. The meeting thon adjourned. |
