Tho Democratic party of Utah county, coun-ty, by its authorized dolcgatcs in convention con-vention assembled, submit tho following follow-ing declaration of principles: 1 Wo reaffirm, and ondorso tho Democratic plattorm adopted by tho National Democratic Convention at Chicago in 1800, and especially that portion of said platform which dcclarod In favor of tho frco and unlimited colnago of silver equal with gold at the ratio of 10 to 1. Tho wariaro be-tnoon be-tnoon tho money power of the world and tho masses of humanity is still on, tho lesuo is us important now, and moro important than it was in 1805. It is and must contlnuo to ho a conflict botwecu grinding monopolies on tho ouo hand and tho down-trodden masses ou tho other, until, by tho mighty voice of tho pooplo at tho oallot box, it shall havo been sottlod, and settled right. This is tho paramount lssuo beforo tho people It has hithorto been In tho Stato of Utah a quostlon upon which all of tho political parties agreed. Recently, however, by tho uso of juggling words and meaningless terms, calculated only to obscuro tho vital question and bofog tho Issue, tho Republicans of Utah, with many honorable hon-orable exceptions, In violation of their solemn pledges and promises to the poople, havo takon a backward step In tho progress of tho fight until it has becomo Imposslblo to regard them any longer in any othor light than as tho friends of gold and onomies of silver. Tho only truo friends of any question aro those who fight for Its triumph, and flght to win. Such is the attitude of tho Democratic party towards tho froo and unlimited colnago of silver equal with go'd as a money of ultimate redemption. 2 Tho Domocrats of Utah county aro proud of tho results of tho war with Spain. Jo aro none tho less proud of tho fact that Democratic Senators Sen-ators and Reprosontatlvos In tho Congress Con-gress of tho United States by uncoas-ing uncoas-ing agitation, in spito of a formidable opposition by Republican leaders cro-ated cro-ated a publlo sontimont in tho country which forced and compelled a reluctant reluct-ant Republican Administration to dcclaro war. A declaration which not only tho distinction of tho "Maluo" was arranged, but liberty and tho opportunity op-portunity of onligbtonod freo government govern-ment was oxtonded to an oppressed and down-trodden people. 3 Wo reaffirm our adhoronco to the doctrine of equal suffrage, and nro proud of that provision of tho Constitution Consti-tution of tho Stato of Utah, by which equal suffrago is guaranteed without regard to tho-distlnction of sox; and wo dcclaro Lat that provision of tho Constitution, vnd tbojaws mado in pursuauco thoroof should bo given tho fullest possible effect; and tho absolute right of woraon to voto and hold ofllco should bo uphold and maltalnod. 4 Wo congratulato tho pooplo of Utah county, and tho Domocratlo party thoreln upon tho clean, frugal and honost administration of tho county government by the officers elected in 1800.
