U U U. constitution constitution constitution con con- as follows Section 8 shall be bel amended to read 1 CREATION There shall be a student court known as the Student I Court of the University of Utah which I Ishall shall be composed of a presiding judge and four associates 2 JUDGES AND THEIR ELECTION ELECTION ELECTION ELEC ELEC- TION Two members of of the student court shall be be juniors and shall be elected by the junior class on or before before before be be- fore October 1st of each year and three members shall be seniors and shall be elected by the senior class classon on or before October 1st of each year year except except that the two junior members members members mem mem- bers or either of them if they become become become be be- come seniors in full standing in the University the year succeeding their election as juniors shall hold over and become senior members of the court After the 1st day of October in each year the executive committee of the student body shall fill by appointment any vacancies occurring in the court 3 ORGANIZATION OF THE COURT On or before the day of October of each year the student court shall organize itself by meeting and selecting from its own members a presiding judge who shall on appoint a qualified person not a member of the court to act as clerk 4 DUTIES OF THE CLERK The clerk of the student court shall shaU take charge of and safely keep all an books papers and records of the court shall serve all necessary papers shall attend all sessions of the court and keep a record of the proceedings and shall upon appeal in in any case compile compile compile com com- pile and forward all records to the appellate tribunal together with a clear and concise synopsis of the proceedings had in the said case 5 JURISDICTION The student court shall have original jurisdiction to hear and determine all cases arising arising aris aris- ing from the infraction by students of any rule of discipline of the University University University sity or from any offense against the general welfare of the student body G. G COMMENCEMENT lENT OF ACTIONS ACTIONS AC AC- lIONS An action may ay be commenced ed in the student court by any member member member mem mem- ber of the faculty or student body by filing with the clerk of the court a complaint in writing signed by the complainant Thereupon it shall shan be bethe bethe bethe the dut duty of the court to investigate the allegations of the complaint and upon a vote of two or more of its members the court shall shaU cause the case caseto caseto caseto to be set down for trial upon a day certain and the clerk of the court not less than two days before the date of trial shall serve upon the defendant or defendants a copy of the complaint complaint complaint com com- plaint and notice of trial 7 JUDG JUDGMENT lENT A majority of the court shall be necessary to convict S.
