A S. S U U. U U U. U constitution constitution con con- on- on as follows Section S 3 shall be amended to read 1 CREATION There shall be a student court known as the Student Court of the University of Utah which shall be composed of a presiding judge and four associates 2 JUDGES AND THEIR ELECTION ELECTION ELECTION ELEC ELEC- TION Two members of the student court shall be juniors and shall be elected by the junior class dass on or before before be be- fore October 1st of each year and three members shall be seniors and shall be elected by the senior class classon on or before October 1st of each year year except except that the two junior members mem mem- tiers ers or either of them if they become become become be be- come seniors in full standing in the University the year succeeding their election as juniors shall hold over and become senior members of the court After the 1st day of October in each year the executive committee of the student body shall fill by appointment any vacancies s occurring in the court I 3 ORGANIZATION OF THE COURT On or before the day of October of each year the student court shall organize itself by meeting and selecting from its own members a presiding judge who shall thereupon on appoint a qualified person not a member of the court to act as clerk 4 DUTIES OF THE CL CLERK RK The clerk of the student court shall take charge of and safely keep leep all books papers and records of the court shall serve all necessary papers shall attend all sessions of the court and keep jeep a record of the proceedings and shall upon appeal in any case compile com com- compile pile and forward all records to the appellate tribunal together with a alear clear lear and concise synopsis of the proceedings had in the said case 5 JURISDICTION The student court shall have original jurisdiction to o hear and determine all cases arising aris aris- ing ng from the infraction by students of any rule of discipline of the University University University sity or from any offense against the general welfare of f the student body G G. PUNISHMENT lENT The cour court shall have the power to pronounce sentence and to provide the means for the execution thereof upon any student found guilty provided that in all cases involving suspension or expulsion expulsion expulsion ex ex- ex- ex recommendation shall be made to the faculty or an authorized I committee of the faculty 9 APPEALS Any student found guilty may appeal to the faculty or oran oran oran an authorized committee of the faculty faculty faculty ty provided he give notice of appeal at the time sentence is pronounced 10 REMOVAL RE OF JUDGES The president of the University shall have power flower to remove any member of the court for cause 11 Juniors and seniors shall be persons per per- sons so defined by the University catalog E E.
