U Meeting Friday March 1910 Constitution Laws By-Laws and Rules of Order of the Association Students of the U University University Uni Uni- ni- ni of Utah Preamble I W We e the students of the University of i Utah in order to effect a more more perfect union and to more successfully advance the affairs of the Student Body do organize the Associated Students of the University of Utah and adopt for our government the following Constitution Laws By-Laws and Rules of Order CONSTITUTION Article I. A S. S U. U U. U held at least two weeks previous to the day of election Other nominations may be made at any time with within n 24 hours previous to the opening of the polls Provided Provid Provid- ed that a petition bearing th the signatures of at least fifteen active members of the Association Association Association As As- endorsing the candidate be presented presented presented pre pre- to the President of the A. U or to the judges of election Clause 3 Manner These officers shall shaH be elected by the Australian ballot system The candidates receiving a plurality of votes shall be declared elected Clause 4 The officers named in Section 3 Clauses 2 3 4 4 of this Article shall be chosen on or before the third Wednesday in May 1 of each year Section 5 Duties of officers Clause 1 President In addition to the duties prescribed in Roberts' Roberts Rules of Order Order Order Or Or- der it shall shaH be the duty of the President to appoint all committees to act as chairman chairman chair chair- ma man l of the Executive Board and to call meetings of the organization whenever he shall shaH deem it advisable He shall call a meeting of the A. A S. S U. U U. U at the instance of three members of the Executive Board or of ten ten active members of this union He shall shaH call caH a meeting of the Executive Board once every two weeks or oftener if sary He shall shaH be responsible for the proper proper execution of the work of all departments provided by this Constitution He shall shaH post notices of any of-any any meeting of the A. A S. S U. U U. U in the Athletic Council Clause 6 Editor of the Chronicle The Ed Editor tor of the Chronicle shall shaH have the power pow pow- er to appo appoint nt his staff after a series of competitive competitive competitive com com- tryouts judged by three members of the University Department of English These tryouts shall be open to any active member of this organization organization- The size of the publication and the terms of subscription tion shall shaH be regulated by the in Editor-in- Chief in conference with the Executive Board The question of publication on holidays holidays holidays holi holi- days and during examination weeks shall shaH be left to the discretion of the Editor Clause 7 The student Manager of Athletics Athletics Ath Ath- shall receive his instructions from the Athletic Council Clause 8 The Manager of Debating shall be governed by the instructions of th the Debating Council At the end of the school year he lie shall file with the University Librarian a complete bibliography of each intercollegiate debate Clause 9 The Manager of Dramatics shall be subject to the instructions of the Dramatic Club Clause 10 The Manager of the University University University sity Musical Organizations shall receive his instructions from the musical organizations Clause 11 Each student manager shall pay over to the Treasurer of the A. A S. S U. U U. U all funds of his department remaining on on hand at the conclusion of the activity of his department together with a detailed statement statement statement state state- ment of all receipts and expenditures Article IV Modifications Section 1 No addition alteration or amendment can be made to this Constitutions Constitutions neither can any part of it be repealed suspended or waived except by a two- two thirds vote of all active members of this Association at a regular business meeting Section 2 All motions of such addition amendment alteration or rep repeal al' al shall be given to the President who shall print them in the Chronicle and must be posted on the official bulletin boards of the University at least one week before action is taken there there- on |
