Show EMERGENCY EARTHQUAKE DRILL - NOV. 4 In conjunction with the Utah Division of Emergency Management and the Utah National Guard, the U is participating in an earthquake-response exercise Nov. 3 - 6. During the scenario, the U community will see emergency response crews and vehicles on campus, including a helicopter that will land on Stillwell Field in Fort Douglas. Vigilant Guard Utah 2014 Earthquake Preparedness Exercise On Nov. 4, the operations center, located just west of McCarthey Field, will have large tents and more than 100 volunteers practicing their emergency response skills. Additionally, emergency medical tents will be set up outside the front entrance and south side of the University of Utah hospital to triage and treat "patients" as part of the exercise. This exercise will help the university prepare, learn how to better utilize its resources and keep people safe in the event of an actual emergency. Up to seven parking spots near HPER Mall will be affected on Nov. 4. The university will test its emergency alert system and related processes on Nov. 5, 2014, at 10:15 a.m. Our goal is to reach the greatest number of individuals in the shortest possible time. To that end, we will use the following methods to send the alert, and we courage you to participate in all of them. A natural disaster or other emergency can happen at any time, and recent events show that no place or person is immune. The University of Utah's Department of Environmental Health and Safety is dedicated to ensuring the U community is prepared should disaster strike. Next week, the U will participate in a statewide emergency drill and test its alert systems. Emergency Earthquake Drill - Nov. 4 1. Email to your @utah.edu address When the test is conducted, an interactive website will be set to receive feedback. Links to the survey will be included in the test alert. Your feedback will help us determine how effective the system test was at reaching critical mass in our community.
