Show HUMANS THE JAMIE THOMPSON FIRST YEAR CARLY JOESTEN BIG ED'S EMPLOYEE GRADUATE STUDENT PSYCHOLOGY FM: What is your relationship with the U? CJ: I've worked at Big Ed's for about six years. I did half a semester at the U and ended up dropping out to work. I was born and raised in Salt Lake City. It's always been my college team. FM: Could you describe your love of the U? JT: It's an awesome school. I love football. I love the program I'm a part of. I also love that they offer a diverse set of academic programs. \06°' FM: How do you reflect your school spirit? If: We go to games, not just football games, but also hockey and everything else. We also have stickers on our cars. FM: How do you express your Ute spirit? CJ: I work at Big Ed's. I get drunk, watch football games and yell at fans from opposing teams. iriday - 11, LAUREN EMERY FRESHMAN FATIMA NAWABI UNDECLARED UMFA SECURITY KV: As a freshman, what do you do to show your school spirit? LE: I think I do what a lot of freshmen do. I go to the football games and I joined the MUSS ... Now that it's getting colder out, I like to wear [my] Utah sweater. It's super warm and comfortable and it shows people that I'm a Ute. KV: Do you watch the games? FN: Yes, I love watching all the games. I don't always go to them, but I wish I could. But you don't necessarily have to be a student to have Ute pride. Students and nonstudents alike love supporting our school and cheering on our teams. The drum and feather is a symbol to many, a force of camaraderie among the U community. Game days are no joke to Utah fans, many of whom arrive on campus to set up their tailgates hours before the game. In short, a Utah man is not born; he or she is bred. Team spirit can be found all around the Salt Lake Valley and beyond. Utes fans are not afraid to show the world they bleed red, and they mean business. AG: I have a lot of school spirit and am a part of MUSS. Also, whenever a game is on TV and my brother is bad-mouthing the Utes, I yell back at him. FM: How are you associatea war! the U? AH: Through my friends. FM: What do you like about watching U football games? AH: The passion of the Utes with every single game they play. It's passionate for me. I like seeing a lot of support for the team. UTES SOCCER HEAD COACH FM: How do you express your Ute spirit? RM: Besides getting a U shaved on my head? I express it with the big smile on my face when I get here.That and I wear a lot of red. 1=M: How are you proud of the U? RM: It really is seeing the players come here, have a great experience and achieve their goals. You start having conversations with the kids when they are 15 or 16 years old. Some of them aren't sure of their dreams. It's great to see them realize and achieve the goals they have. KV: Why do you love the U? FN: It's just a really great place to work. I love coming here every day. |
