With the Bruins on the 45-yard line, a screen / to Paul Perkins went 44 yards. Utah stopped the Bruins at the one-yard line on three straight plays, but Jordan James ran in the touchdown This game was expected to be a shootout and the first five minutes brought exactly that. On Utah's first drive after a rush for four yards, / three straight passes from the backfield were successful. Dres Anderson took the third one 54 yards for the touchdown. The drive was four plays for 74 yards in just 1:14. The drive was the epitome of what was envisioned when Dennis Erickson was hired 1 ST QUARTER Anderson's scamper was Utah's eighth play of 50 or more yards on the season On UCLA's drive, Utah brought a great deal of pressure. Jason Whittingham and Jacoby Hale had tackles for a combined loss of 14 yards The Bruins appeared to be going for it on fourth down at the 35-yard line, but Brett Hundley showed his punting skills, pooching it to the 8 Two incomplete passes from Wilson and just a four-yard rush from James Poole = a three-and-out on that drive for the Utes A very impressive drive for Utah on its next possession. 18 rushing yards, 34 pass yards. Drive was aided by 15-yard facemask penalty On the six yard line, Wilson appeared to throw an interception, but it went through safety Randall Goforth's hands to Sean Fitzgerald for teh touchdown The Bruins responded with a very effective drive, going 80 yards in nine plays in 2:27. Drive was capped by some trickeration / as wide receiver Devin Fuller tossed it to quarterback Brett Hundley for a seven-yard touchdown to tie the game at 14. On the Utes' next drive, Kelvin York broke out, rushing for 19 yards and Utah was clicking when Travis Wilson threw behind Dres Anderson Ball was intercepted and on UCLA's ensuing drive, the Bruins went 63 yards on seven plays for a touchdown to make it 21-14 UCLA. Despite a 30-yard completion from Wilson to Anthony Denham, Utes were held to a field goal on their next possession. Andy Phillips connected on a 44-yarder to make him 8-for-8 on the season in three-point tries. Utes held the Bruins on the next drive, but on the punt Geoffrey Norwood fumbled it. UCLA recovered, but the play was reviewed. Play reversed. UCLA doesn't do anything with just more than a minute left in the quarter.
