You do not question the bte gnty of campus police officenk in the same breath question fe, being armed. Hi, ridiculous! That's like asking; deer hunter to go looking fo: ; deer and then return to camp his rifle when he found one. Ei-cept Ei-cept that the deer hunter's fc would not be endangered. Ya blew it again Editor: Your Monday, November 9th edition of the Chronicle represents repre-sents a biased and uninformed view and distorted reporting that has characterized the Chronicle for many years. Your stance seems to clearly be against everything every-thing and for nothing. There are two outstanding examples of your anachronisms that must be pointed out. First: Your editorial against campus police being armed represents repre-sents a very naive point of view and the shallowness of your examination ex-amination of men in general. (The University Campus Police are the only campus police in the U.S. that are or have been unarmed.) You are also apparently unaware of tire training program that the police officer in this state must go through and that includes the campus police officers, to become qualified to be a police officer and carry arms. What you would have these gentlemen do is go into battle unarmed which is highly unrealistic on your part. While you may not think of policemen as being in battle, they surely are and are the first line of defense in the fight against crime. One could liken these officers as being infantry infan-try and what you are proposing is to send the infantry into battle unarmed and this would do nothing more than invite trouble. Also, for your information, state law requires that they be armed. Your notion that the University could also dictate whether other jurisdictional officers should be armed or not falls into the same area of offensiveness. The University Univer-sity or students cannot dictate who shall be armed or not because it is not within their purview to do so. Ronald K.
