Show Joyce Sugen and Eileff Jesperson rehearse for this weekend's Dance '69. 'Dance W presents varied parodies in modern dance By Ed Ditterline Staff Writer If the student who usually sits next to you in History or your lab partner in Chemistry doesn't show up for class during the next few days, you can assume that Shirlie Ririe has grabbed him or her to perform in her new work "NOW," which will be performed at "Dance '69" Thursday, through Saturday at Kingsbury Hall at 8:30 p.m. When it comes to movement and a feeling for what the human body can do, Miss Ririe doesn't feel obligated to use only dance people. With a score compoase by Dave Langlois of The Holden Caufield, who will play for the show, she will use 24 "non-dance" people in the number. The free-form program highlighted by the choreographic works of Miss Ririe, Joan Woodbury, John Wilson and Murray Louis from New York wili feature parodies on modern disposability from diapers to marriage partners; classical music by J. S. Bach; "chameleon landscape changes from strange underworlds," space fantasies, magic shows and mysterious journey's in lighting effects. Tickets which normally cost $4.50 and $3.00 will be on sale in the Huddle especially for University students at $1.25. Other tickets may be purchased at the Kingsbury Hall Ticket office. |
