Show Resource Group to insure student voice The group is trying to stress leadership development and activate programming in group processes and communication. Mr. Schuster said, "We want to work with the counseling center as well as with other groups in helping studetns become more powerful and have more influence, in-fluence, and to realize their own potential." The ' group is innovative and anxious to to help students as well as staff and faculty members get it together with problems they might have. "The DNA of our system," said . Mr. Schuster, "is working with people and not doing it for them, helping them but not taking an administrative stand." The group is located in the Union and will extend their services for any student or faculty member with any problem that's bothering them. ' The Resource Group is a group of 11 people who have initiated a method to help students and make sure that they have a voice in what is done on campus. . They feel learning in itself is seen in too narrow a way. In order to make learning more interesting they have come up with four adjectives to describe how they (feel learning could be improved: j to make learning more exciting, (diversified, experimental and to evoke more participation. The members of the group, Jim ,Schuster, Joe Welch and Grace jCallegos, realize that there .should be a range of things that rshould happen and that students ,should be allowed to share in deciding how they learn and what they learn. Mr. Welch said, "The staff members have too many responsibilities. They have specific hours to teach and to 'remain in the office for counseling coun-seling and very little time to be innovative." "As a group, we do not have administrative responsibilities :and we have a full schedule to be finnovative and as helpful as 'Possible," he said. "We are set up to serve the needs of the students, to respond to any problems of student organizations, organiza-tions, clubs, committees and student stu-dent needs in general," he 'said. "Another of our functions is to stimulate programs as well," he radded. Volunteers are still needed ' at the Youth Hostel 8:30 to f 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. to midnight.
