Show Head of campus police jorce resigns, moves to State Dept. of Public Safety IIUsvsu J Elroy Jones, director of the University's Universi-ty's Department of Public Safety for the last five and one half years, Monday turned in his resignation. He will leave the University July 30. In a letter to the Chronicle, Mr. Jones said he is resigning to join the Stale Department of Public Safety as assistant commissioner in charge of special programs. pro-grams. , , No replacement has been selected, but according to Mr. Jones, Lt. Mr. Jones stated that, in effect, there was no campus police force as we know it now when he first became director. In his letter to the Chronicle, he said. "During the five and one half years I have been at the University we have built a competent police department of which wc can be justly proud." |
