Wilkerson says 13 years is long enough to wait to publish hie story surrounding the mysteries ofhidden treasure believed buried deep inside the mountains somewhere in Whiterocki Canyon. IBs book, Guide to the Lost Rhoades Gold Mines, not only supplies the reader with histories and anecdotes Wilkerson has collected surrounding the mines over the years, but also indudes several maps. Maps the old retired rancher says will lead prospectors to the buried gold. "If my legs werent eo bad I would have found it myself;" Wilkerson volunteered. He said the mine wont be easy to find because its probably been covered in, but nonetheless, he says it does exist. The book indudes 37 maps in all, including two which Wilkerson says were drawn by men who actually went into the mine. The On Wednesday afternoon Gwen Kellum holds Acteens at the church gt 3:30 p.m.. Hinckley was formally sustained by the membership of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-da- y Saints as the faiths 15th president during a Solemn Assembly Saturday morning. The action came during the opening session of the churchs 165th Annual General Conference, during which Elder Henry B. Eyring was called to serve as a member of the Council of Twelve Apostles. He had been serving in the First Quorum of the Seventy. The First Presidency also announced four new members of the First Quorum of the Seventy and one new member of the Second Quorum of the Seventy. Elderi David E. Sorenson, Jay E. Jensen and John B. Dickson, each of whom have been serving in tiie Second Quorum ofthe Seventy, were called to serve in the First Quorum. Also called to the First Quorum was W. Craig Zwick, Salt Lake. Named to the Second Quorum was Bruce D. Porter, Provo. President Hinckley was ordained and set apart as world leader of the faith March 12, succeeding President Howard W. Hunter, who died March 3. Elder Eyring fills a vacancy in the Council of the Twelve Apostles that occurred when Elder James E. Faust was called by President Hinckley to serve as second counselor in the First Presidency, together with President Thomas S. Moneon, first counselor. Elder Eyring has been serving as a member of the First Quorum of the Seventy since October of 1992. He has been serving as Commissioner ofChurch Education since September, 1992. Prior to that, ha served as First Counselor in tiie Presiding Bishopric from April 1985 to September 1992, and prior to that as Commissioner of Henry Eyring Education from September 1980 to April 1985. Elder Eyring was president of Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho, from 1972 to 1977. He was on the faculty at the Graduate School of Business at Stanford University from 1962 to 1971. He was a Sloan Visiting Faculty Fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1963 and 1964. He holds a B.S. degree in physics from the University of Utah and Master of Business Administration and Doctor ofBusiness Administration degrees from Harvard Univer- sity. Uintah Basin Public Health Department (UBPHD) has. made strides in promoting physical and mental health and preventing disease, injury, and disability since its inception in, 1978. The goals of the department are to maintain and improve the health and quality of life far residents of the Uintah Basin. UBPHD staff comprises professionals in nursing, environmental health, education and administration who are defeated to delivering integral services to Jersey, he has served the church as regional representative, member of the General Sunday School Board and as a bishop. They serve public schools in the Basin with immunization tracking and records, vision screening, dental health programs, health education classes, iryiny prevention curriculum and tuberculosis screening. Children with Special Health Cure Needs (CSHCN) is facilitated by UBPHD nursing staff and associated specialists from Salt Lake. The purpose iff this program it to offer services to children with pedal needs. Baby Your Baby prenatal services are offered to women who need assistance in the community. Well Child exams are performed by UBPHD nursing staff trained in physical assessment. Fees are based on a sliding income schedule. General health services include cardiovascular, Mood pressure and cholesterol screenings and assessment. UBPHD is responsible for communicable disease tracking and investigation. health The environmental section ofUBPHD has responsibilities for all factors in our environment that effect human health and safety. Environmental Health dentists and support staff duties indude inspection, regulation and complaint response in food and water safety, public facilities, wastewater disposal, solid and hazardous waste,' air quality, pools and underground storage tanks. UBPHD . . It is vention. Classes are offered on tobacco cessation for teens and adults, conflict resolution and tress management. UBPHD health educators also offer material on cancer awareness, bicycle helmet use and AIDS education. Assessment Protocol for Excellence in Public Health (APEXPH) is a project that further examines and address needs ofthe community, through public health services in nursing, environmental health and health education. UBPHD has adopted tide project to guarantee that communities in tiie Uintah Basin will have access to key health care services.
