The requirement applies to holders of about 200,000 mining claims in Utah, according to Robert Lopez, branch chief of Records and Data Management for the Bureau of Land Management in Salt Lake. For claims located prior to Sept. 1, must file an 1979, the claimant affidavit or statement that at least $100 worth of work on the claim was completed prior to Aug. 81, 1979. Statements or affidavits, Lopez said, must be submitted to the BLM State Office, 186 East South Temple, Salt Lake, 84111. Persons who located claims between Sept 1, 1979 and Dec. 80, 1979, and persons claiming unpatented mill or tunnel sites must file a notice that they intend to hold the claim. The filing requirements apply to claims on National Finest land as well as on land administered by the BLM.
