MISSIONARIES-Mcmbcrs of the Ml Olympus Presbyterian Church in Salt Lake spent last week teaching and playing with local children who attend summer classes provided by the Myton Learning Center. They also took on a beatification project and cleaned a vacant lot near the center. SUMMER Myton Learning Center Salt Lake teens volunteer to help tutor local youth A visit to Myton five years ago by the Director of Ministry of the Ml Olympus Presbyterian Church in Salt Lake City resulted in a second visit from members of that congregation, this time it included 30 junior high school age teens who came to lend a helping hand at the Myton Learning Center. The four-daspent by the teens and their five leaders is part of their summer "mission trip." The group assists Myton Center Learning Director Joviia Thompson and her staff in working with the 73 children who come to the Emmett and Dorothy Evans have had their daughter, Shieva and husband Mike Syrovy and their daughter Tdma, of Tacoma here. Washington They also brought a cousin with them. They had been traveling through Yellow Stone Park. They visited up in Idaho with both of their families. The two girls will stay for a week after their folks leave for home. Then the Evans will take them to the Salt Lake Airport for them to fly back home. Larry and Joyce Rrittian of Bluebell that use to live in Duchesne have had some sick parents. The folks of Larry, his mother had had a knee replacement approximately a year ago. Her knee got some kind of infection in iL They had to take out the old knee, and bone. She has been in the Utah Valley Hospital for a month, and she has to stay for another month. When his mother got down sick, his father has been on a Dialis Machine for a year. Then he took a turn for the worse and had to be in the hospital. The Duchesne Seniors celebrated 11 birthdays on July 11. Among them were George Marett and Harold Gee, George is 80 and Harold Gee is 88. Our Duchesne Seniors always celebrate every ones birthday the 2nd Thursday of the month. Walt and Sarah Bonny of Orem their Golden are celebrating Wedding anniversary on July 8 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Nielsen Ranch, the party is given by their family. The Bonnys use to live in Bridgcland, but they moved out to Orem. Scott and Leslie Peterson of Vernal had their little daughter Tiffany's baptism at 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 6 by her father, then on Sunday, July 7 Tiffany was confirmed. Family members got together at the home of Scott mid Leslie Peterson after church for a family get together and dinner. Tami Mullins had the misfortune of falling in her back yard on Thursday of last week, she broke her left wrist, bruised her right knee and cut her face. Lyle came home on Friday, he took her over to the Dr. aid they pul a cast on her arm. On Friday of this last week, Tamis folks George and Lola Rapich of Bountiful came down to spend a few days with their daughter Tami and family. Alton and Sue Wilde had company over this last weekend, Glen and Ruth Mccham of Salt Lake was out and spent the weekend. Jennie Mcrklcy had her daughter Linda Stone of West Valley and her girl out for a couple of days. Then her other daughter Jana Sweat of Hcbcr and her two daughters. They all spent some time up in the mountains. Jeff and Kathy Marett and their five children were new members on Sunday, July 7 in the Bridgcland Ward. Jack and Viola Blcazard were out to church on Sunday, July 7. David and Holly Evans had their baby girl blessed in the Bridgeland center each day during the summer months to sharpen their academic skills and to participate in activities. "It allows them to work oneon-on- c during reading lime," explained Ml Olympus volunteer, Lauren Mchlhoff. "And the kids really like the individual attention. A lot of neat friendships have developed already." Jean and Ivan were leaving on Sunday afternoon. Joe and Lil Claybum of Bridgcland have had a visit from their daughter Kathy and Bruce Peterson of Riverton for over the July 4 weekend. Christine Nation of Bridgcland is spending some time up at Hyland with her daughter Patsy Marx and family, Christine has been in the hospital where she has had her right knee replaced. Tracy Long, daughter of Wes and Connie Lone has been accepted in the Who's Who Award Among American High School Students. This honor is reserved for only 5 of our nations high school students each year. and relatives attended. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Smith and Rachel Jensen spent the weekend at their home in Hanna. Barbara Davis of Salt Lake City spent a few days visiting Crystal Hacked. Mr. and Mrs. Danny Parhurst and family of Ogden spent the weekend visiting Mr. and Mrs. Dale Gines and family. Mr. and Mrs. Voy Stewart and family of Salt Lake, spent the weekend at their home in Tabiona. Mr. and Mrs. Travis Stewart and family and Mr. and Mrs. Shannon Lazcnby, of Salt Lake, spent the weekend visiting Mr. and Mrs. Craig Thomas and family. Mr. and Mrs. Dean Bingham and family of Hcbcr, spent the weekend in Hanna enjoying the 4th celebration. Mr. and Mrs. Jarrod Leflcr snd Jarrell spent the weekend visiting Mr. and Mrs. Ron Leflcr and Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Strebd. John and Launnie Miller of Hcbcr arc the parents of a Baby Boy bom July 9lh in Provo. He weighed 11 lbs 7 ozs and was 22" long. He will be given the name Jimmy Lee Miller. Grandparents arc Charlie and Sharyn Slrebcl, and Mary Miller. The Thomas Giles reunion was held over the weekend. Joe Fillmore spent last week in the Utah Valley Hospital, where he underwent neck surgery. We wish him a speedy recovery. Mannix is in his senior year studying psychology. He has a 4.0 GPA. and an Aunt from American Fork, Hauie Jensen, Fay Horrocks, Michelle Morrill, Leah Allred, Marge Houston and a friend Bart Miller and his wife. The John A. Gilbert and Geneva Frost Gilbert family reunion was held at Hayden July 3 and 6. They pitched their tents and pulled in their trailers and camped out after a night of singing, laughing, and eating. About 30 relatives were in from Nevada, Kansas, Bountiful, and Kavsvillc. .. The Ed and Maimic Gardner reunion was held July 3 and 6 at Bacon Park. 83 were in attendance, some came from Salt Lake, California and Springvillc. After dinner on the 6lh there was door prizes and a auction held. They reported having a wonderful lime together. Greg and Marlcna Bcllon and two daughters Klarysa and Olivia of Bountiful visited Sunday, July 7 with her grandma Zola Spencer, also Jane Easter and three small daughters of California made a visit Sunday, July 7 and spent time with her aunt Zola Spencer. Bret and Yamdl Hcnric paid a visit over the weekend to the Roucl Hcnric family with their new bom son Dylon Quadc, Bret was able to check out the hunting situation in the- mountains and get in some target practice. On July 4 he and Yarncli attended the Ncola Rodeo to watch his friend Clay Horrocks ride the bucking broncos. On July 3 more company arrived, Mindy and Camille Hcnric, Andrea, and Skylar Marrcah, Sadie Brooksby. They had come to Starvation Reservoir to camp and had beat rained ouL So they came to Ncola for refuge. The husbands, Shane and Mykcl Hcnric and cousin Ryan Brooksby stayed to scuba dive till later, then came to Ncola also. Part of the group stayed in Roosevelt and part in Ncola and spent lime in Ncola until Sunday and all relumed that morning except Bret who stayed to attend sacrament meeting before returning to Ogden. Nadiiic Zager and her brother and sister-in-laWillis and Helen Wymcr flew to St. Marys Georgia where they stayed with their son and daughter-in-laBrett and w Shelly Wymer and two granddaughters for three weeks. They all visited the Kennedy Space Center where they watched the launching of the space shuttle Columbia. Also visited Cocoa beach and Sl Augustine and the Daytona speed way in Florida. They took several bus tours in Savannal Georgia which helped them to learn and see more of the places they visited. They spent a couple days at the ocean swimming and collecting sea shells. They also visited their daughters ana families in Provo and Salt Lake. Nina and Milo Webb and family Mesa, Arizona have been visiting this week with Ninas parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Bartlett. Clark and Rhea McKee and family went back to Pennsylvania last week to pick up Elder Scott McKee who has just completed his mission. They will tour Mormon Historical sites on their way home. Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Goodrich were visitors Sunday and Monday at the home of Douglas and Teresa Page. They came to attend the funeral of George McConkie in Vernal Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Morris McKee and family, Phyllis Hall and children and Mr. and Mrs. DeVon McKee spent the past week on vacation viewing Mormon historical sites in Nauvoo, Carthage, Winter Mt. Pisjah ar.u ?;uarters, Missouri. Paul and Julie Wilson and children moved to Alaska last week. The Ralph Prescus family moved to Washington last week. The Potter family have moved into the home occupied by the Frescus family. They have been living in the A.C. Wilkerson home. Ray and Lucille Zenger, Salt Lake City spent the weekend with Margaret Elison. Mrs. Eli son and the Zengers went to a Bingham reunion Saturday at the "Remember the Main Park". It was sponsored by Earl Bingham. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Haslem and daughter Doris went to Syracuse Sunday to the blessing of Mr. ana Mrs. Donald Haslems baby. The name given their grandson was Jeremy Daniel. The Lane Davis family, Garden Grove, California and Michael Hall and children, Layton, and Troy and Jill Davis, Provo have all been visitors at the DeVon McKee home recently. The occasion was the 50th anniversary of DeVon and Lama McKee. It was celebrated with a program and reunion Friday night at the cultural hall and a picnic and outing at Whiter neks Canyon Saturday. The McKees were married June 26, 1946 in the Salt Lake Temple. and-Phylli- s Mr. and Mrs. Rae Goodrich, Jerry and Lois Goodrich and family and Heather and Vicki Goodrich attended the Bowden family reunion in Sandy Saturday. Karisaa Goodrich, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kerry Goodrich returned with her grandparents and will visit a week with them. Bonnie Bagley and children visited recently with her mother, Emma Wilson.
