BALL TEAM This Legion team loses out to Skyline made some really nice defensive plays, and Steve Gingell hit a grand slam home run, so there were some exciting moments in the game. GingeUs homer followed a grand slam made bv The Legion Poet 64 baseball team lost in a dose match against Skyline last week, knocking them out of the finals for the state championship. Final score was 8 to 7. legion coach Joe Fieldsted was still pleased about the way his team played. We played a good ball game. ; We did some good things, but just left too many men on base," he said. Skyline was one of the better - teams in the tournament and went on to beat Cypress in the opening game on Saturday. "Our kids played really well, I was proud, of them," he said. "Although the team made a few errors, so did the Skyline team. Fjeldsted said Lynn Abplanalp Skyline in the same inning. Fieldsted said, It would have been easy for them to give up after Skyline's grand slam, but they came back and tied the game back up." Since many of the team members have graduated from high school, the STANDARD asked Fieldsted if they were going on to play college ball. He said some of them were already signed up. There were scouts and college coaches at the tournament and they talked to some of his team memDers, so he expects some of them to get some good scholarships. Besides their competitive ball playing skills, the team members were complemented on their behavior. "They played with a lot of class, Fieldsted said, "That means a lot to me." He added, People around the state know were here now, so they dont expect an easy game anymore. Putting together a rodeo takes more time and hard work than most people realize. Cowboys generally know how well they fared after their 8 second ride. However, for Bill and Lisa Muir, chair people for the Duchesne County Fair Rodeo, the time is much longer. They have to wait months before they know how well their work has paid off. And, during the past, the Muirs have done an outstanding job. They want to continue working on the rodeo along with the fair board because they like to see a fine event . come everyone sit up and taxe notice. This new feature along with the standard bronc riding, barebarV riding, team roping, barrell racing will fill the evening's entertainment. ' T.im said one thing that is nice about planning for the rodeo is the excitement of the actual day. She said planning it is always more fun than the actual event. For those interesed in the event, it will be held Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. . . Jackson. Hunt Number 17127 for Range Creek; James Arthur, Sherry A. Arthur. Besides that, if they work on the fair board, they are allowed in the fair free including the country western concert with Moe Bandy and Becky Hobbs. Lisa Muir said her husband has been working on the rodeo for some time. She said she likes to take a back seat to the planning. But, no doubt, she, too, worries about the success. "We get along really well with the fair board. He handles most of the planning, Lisa said. I try to stay out of it. He is the brain behind it." Part of the worries is making sure that grounds are ready, that stock is on plenty of hand, that everyone gets registered in the different rodeo events, and that everything just runs smooth. This year a new added feature will entertain the always-larg- e crowd. A bull fighting among different clowns will surely make for Daggptt: .107 . Goodrich. Marilyn Griftin. Roger F. Griffin.
