Perhaps by the time you read my column this week the big national Republican in Chicago will be history, and they will have their man nominated to head the national ticket. Let us all hope they name the right man. I have followed the campaign, which at times reached the proportions of a presidential campaign (Demos vs GOPers), and admit I was just a little perturbed that men in the same party would get so For the angry at each other good of the nation, let us hope they get the kinks out of their dispositions and unite as Americans to work for a better nation. In a couple of weeks, the Democrats will take over the Windy City for the same purpose to select an opponent to battle it out with the GOP condidate. . . . This thing is almost certain the Demo's will have a new man seeking the big chair in the White House Gone will be Roosevelt and Truman, who for the past 20 years have piloted the ship of state. . . . However, Pres. Truman, no doubt, will have plenty to say in the coming campaign, regardless of who becomes the Demo standard 'bearer. Itll be an Interesting duel, the election this fall. . . , Which should stimulate every qualified voting citizen to make aure hes registered, and then casts his ballot next November 3, for the man, in his opinion, best suited to lead the great American democracy. v E v "The contest for ages has been to rescue liberty from the grasp of executive power. Highways and roads are lined with the pesky plants, and virtually every vacant lot in the various towns gives evidence that the heavy winter snows and late, warm spring have stimulated the weed growth. It seems as how this is the time to spray for noxious weeds throughout our communities People should take sufficient pride in what is theirs, and their town, to clean up the weeds on their property, or the property they are living on. in our communities should Maybe the powers-that-b- e declare a Weed Eradication Week," and appeal to the citizens of the community to clean up the town We have weeks proclaimed for just about everything else And this is one that would not cost anyone a lot of money to observe.
