Call Service REFRIGERATION The age limit for those eligible to receive Polio vaccine has been extended to include children in the 10 to 14 year old group, according to Arvin L. Bellon, who attended the board meeting of the Polio Advisory Committee of the State Board of Health, held in Salt Lake City on May 7. Mr. Bellon, chairman of the Duchesne County1 Infantile Paralysis Chapter, was recently appointed to the Polio Advisory Committee of the State Board of Health to represent Duchesne County. Previously the age limit was up to and including 9 year olds. Thus all those in the age group from 0 to 14 inclusive and expectant mothers are now included in the priority group. Mr. Bellon also noted that Duchesne County is lagging in the use of the vaccine available to them and' recently over 25 of that available had not been used. He pointed out that Utah is extremely fortunate for the excellent manner in which the State Board of Health and physicians of the state have adopted and carried out the Salk Vaccine' program. Utah is one of the few states in which the vaccine is obtained 100 per cent through the State Board of Health through Federal Grants and certainly all of those within the eligible age group should avail themselves of the opportunity to obtain the vaccine while it is available free of charge. Polio Season Seen The polio season will soon be upon us and with all indications pointing to ample vaccine in the next few weeks and months, every child in the priority age group and' every mother expectant should have at least one shot before we enter the danger period. If we continue to lag in the use of the vaccine available, we will be in danger of losing it to other areas where there is demand for it, Mr. Bellon continued. The committee also voted to make all vaccine received available to anyone in the priority group for either first or second shots and not to hold vaccine for second shots for those who receive their first. Thus those receiving first shots now will have to rely on future allotments for their second shot. It was felt that this would avail more of the opportunity for at least one shot before the polio season and that there would be vaccine available in time for their second shot. Third' shots are not available at this time. Also attending the meeting with Mr. Bellon were Mrs. Hyrum Jensen and Mrs. Neal Schaefermeyer of Roosevelt. First All-Indi- an Ground Observer Corps Organized Ground Ob The first servation Corps in the United in States started' functioning Whiterocks last Saturday. Initiated by T. H. York, Baptist minister of Gusher, and operated by Wilson Taveapont, chief ob server, the Corps now has nine teen volunteer observers who have been standing watches during the daylight hours.. Violet Grant, assistant chief observer, is helping to train girls and women to serve. have Three evening meetings been conducted by Mr. Taveapont in the Parish Hall at which instruction has been given in the identification of planes, the proper procedure for reporting flights and the keeping of logs. Through these meetings which are open to all, many others have become interested and are considering signing up for service. Material for a tower, to be furnished by the government, is expected soon, and' Indian labor will erect the structure which, when equipped with a telephone, will then be the observation post. Floyd Wopsock was to have had the honor of being the first to serve as an observer in this unique corps, but failed to show up when due, so Rosa Parriett substituted for him and has the distinction of being the first observer. an -- Three Teachers Given Transfers To D.
