Jan. 9th From all parts of the country, boys and girls submitted photographs to the Eighth Annual National High School Photographic Awards. A jury of well qualified judges selected a total of 196 pictures for grand awards, special prizes and honorable mentions. A section of sixty of these prizewinning pictures will be on exhibit at the Duchesne High School from Jan. 9 to Jan. 25th. The collection of fine prints' is s a glimpse through the' looking glass. Its what your sister or brother or the boy next doer made his camera sdy about the world around us. Its a pictorial wonderland of personal experiences and interpretations. Next to listening to their speech, few things will tell you as much about people as the photographs they take.-- Where there are language or age barriers to ready understanding, pictures can be even more' telling than speech. This is a There are fine examples of design, and many prints that show the sharp, quickly observant eye of the reporter outdistancing purely artistic merit. The picture reporter and the camera commentator are notably present with prints that have caught fleeting and revealing split seconds of life. If youre a photographer (and who isnt?) this show will' make you envious, too. It may be a high school display, but there's plenty of graduate quality on exhibit. H. Case, postmaster. The 1955' receipts amounted to $6,897.64. In 1953, postal receipts at Duchesne were $7,204.54. Greatest loss of the four quarters in receipts was the final quarter of the year ending Dec. 31. For this period the 1955 receipts amounted to $2,003.94 compared to $2,509.52 last year, or '$495.58 less, Mr. Case reported. By quarters receipts for 1955 are: $1,734.13, first; $1,610 65, second'; $1,518.92, third; $2,003.94, fourth. Comparative amounts for 1954 are: $1,969 58, first; $1,544 20 second; $1,600,90, third; $2,509.52, fourth. Mr. Case explained the Decem-be- r decrease in postal receipts is due in all probability to the absence of contract construction projects in this area and to the decrease of other transient workers who swell the citys population periodically. To be eligible for a change in the class of the Duchesne post office from third to second class, it would require receipts' of or more for two years in succession in post office fees, Mr. Case continued. Cases filed in the district court Duchesne during December, 1955 are listed' as follows: CIVIL DIVISION Dwight L. Fullmer, Josephine C. Fullmer, his wife, C.
