Nye School Awards At Tabiona Are Announced Principal Doyle K, Swallow announces the following special awards were made to students at Tabiona prior to the closing of school. The beautiful new trophy which was awarded for the first time this year went to the senior class for presenting the best student assembly during the year. E. Kent Ellertson was class advisor. It is planned, by the student council at Tabiona to present this award annually in the interest of promoting better assembly programs at the school, and assisting in developing talent in the school. Each member of the senior class received a special award which is somewhat of a record in spite of the smallness of the class, indicating outstanding accomplishment of all members. Miss LeMay Roberts, class president, received a full year tuition to the Utah State scholarship Agriculture College. Miss Sharon Hamilton, who has been our faithful school reporter for the Record, received a tuition scholarship to the Brigham Young University, renewable each quarter if a 2.5 all-gir- ls Si berrij. Reta Lott Baby Born To Wilbur Bates Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Bates are very happy over the arrival of a baby girl. CALIFORNIA TRIP Mrs. Gertrude Williams and Mrs. Noma Rowley accompanied Mrs. Max Thom, of Springville, to California, where they will visit relatives for a few days. Robert Rowley is staying at the home of his uncle, Isaac Baum of Heber, while his mother is in California. Ronald McKean, of Salt Lake, is visiting his cousins, Charles and Stephen Lott, for a month. Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Hamblin and sons visited Mr. and Mrs. Albert Mezenen. ' Mr. and Mrs, Clarence Baum visited with their daughter and and family, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin White, on Sunday. Miss Barbara Mezenen is home for the summer.. She graduated last week from Spanish Fork High School. Miss Mezenen has lived with her aunt, Mrs. Elva Pace, the past three years. Mrs. Minerva Olsen, of Duchesne, is staying with her daughter, Lena, and family. RETURN FROM IDAHO Mrs. Vaun Lott reports a fine trip to Idaho last week. Mr. and Mrs. Lott accompanied Mr. and Mrs. William McKean to Boise for the Memorial Day holiday. They also visited other relatives at Twin Falls and Pocatello. Miss Mary Lott stayed in Salt Lake at the home of Mr. Lotts sister, Mrs. Rulon Satterfield. Young Steve Lott celebrated his 12th birthday this week. Other school awards were: Second year typewriting, Lila Jean First year typewriting; Carter; for Carolyn Pilling, certificate spelling accomplishment in 11th grade English; Connie Ivie, Sharon Hamilton, Editor of School Paper certificate and certificate for student director of the chorus; Lonnie Carlile, Dennis Jones and Lynn Turnbow received certificates in Industrial Arts; Marilyn LeFevre, student band director; LaRetta Jones and Carolyn Pilling received certificates in sewing and Marilyn LeFevre had earlier received the Betty Crocker home making award in Home Economics. Coach James Knight made the awards for atheletic following accomplishment: Basketball certificates to Lane Josie, Mark Michie, Bobby Pace, Ray Pace, Max Giles, and Larry Van Tassell. Larry Ivie won the junior division Field Day certificate and Lane Josie the certificate for Field Day in the Senior Division. Senior Penthalon winners were Nolen Giles, Larry Ivie and Kent Pace, and junior were Larry winners Penthalon Wilcken, Bobby Webb and Stephen Rhoades. Mrs. Irene Johnson was presented two lovely lamps for her special services to the athletic department in preparing special meals and cooking for the banquet. High School and Elementary students who received attendance awards were: Yvonne Woolley, Linnette LeFevre, Mable LeFevre, Larry Brown, Carol Ann Brown, Kathryn Wadley, Anna Lewis, Faun Carlile and Tony Norris. For special achievement in the Elementary grades the following awards were made: Rose Ann Van Tassell, Claudia Wadley, Donna Wadley, Diane Pace, Allen Michie, Toni Fabrizio, Tony Norris, Sandra Wadley, Joyce Gines, Bonnie Roberts, Carol Turbow and Sharon Defa. Cars Col I Ids A two car collision occured Sunday, May 29, en the turn near the Frank T. Defa ranch between Hanna and Tabiona. Injured in the accident were Mrs. William Hite and son Richard, who were taken to Salt Lake City for treatment. Others involved in the accident who received cuts and scratches were Ila Mae Casper, driver of one car, LaRetta Jones, who was riding with her, and William Hite, who was driver of the other car. The Hites are residents of Oak Creek, Colorado, and were enroute home from a motor tour.' , Mrs. Lee Wagstaff and her daughters motored to Heber where they visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Elden Casper. Mr. and Mrs. Casper joined them to visit in Clearfield at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Nye. Miss Sheila Wagstaff is spending a few weeks visiting at the Nye home, and another daughter, Miss Sherry Wagstaff is enjoying a few weeks visiting at the home of her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Mick Jensen, in Salt Lake City. Von Brown, who is employed at Rangely, Colorado, was recently visiting his family here. He reports he is trying to find a house to move his family to Colorado soon. We shall hate to see them leave our community where they have contributed in many church and civic activities, but wish them success in their new home.
