Show ii Ann a TABIONA Ward Visitors A large crowd attended the bridal shower Saturday afternoon honoring Mrs, Earl Griffiths, the former Miss Irene Thomas. A program was enjoyed with Mrs. Leone Brown as mistress of ceremonies. Many beautiful and useful gifts were received. Mr. and Mrs. Griffits, who were wed Friday in the Salt Lake Temple were honored at a wedding dance Saturday evening in the Tabiona High School gymnasium. Mrs. Velma Abplanalp and children and Mrs, LaVar Pace and children and Barbara Hackett J0yed a few days vacatl0n in Salt Lake City last week. Mrs. Abplanalp also spent a few days visiting with her mother, Mrs. Irene Johnson of Hanna. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Smith and girls spent several days last week visiting in Worland, Wyoming, with Mrs. Smiths mother who is ill. They also visited with Mrs. Smiths brothers and sisters and their families at a family reunion. Mr. and Mrs. Venice Turnbow were Hanna residents over the weekend. They have moved into one of the cabins down by the Lloyd Pace home, where they plan on spending part of their time this summer. A BABY GIRL Mr. and Mrs. Jack Josie, of Salt Lake City, are the proud parents of a baby girl, weighing in at 8 lbs. 6 oz. The wee Miss was born in a Salt Lake City hospital May 22. Proud grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Parley Reid, made a trip to the city over the weekend to see their new granddaughter and her mother. All are reported doing fine. . - - I -- Winslow Rhoades and Joe Curry and son, Oran, attended the Vernal Livestock Show and sale on Friday. Mr, and Mrs. Craig Wilcken and children spent the Memorial holiday weekend, as guests at the Oran Curry home. Mr. Wilcken returned to Rangely Monday, but Mrs. Wilcken and children remained for a longer visit. The Farmerette Club was held at the home of Mrs. Ilenna Shields Tal-mag- Alcohol Studies At U Of U Planned For June The University of Utah announced the fourth annual session of the Utah School of Alcohol Studies. The school will convene during the week of June 19 through 25. Collaborating with the on this increasingly University significant venture is the Utah State Board on Alcoholism and the Utah Alcoholism Foundation. The school has already grown to national importance, as is indicated by the large number of students from many states throughout the United States, Canada, and Mexico that have attended previous sessions. Alcoholism represents a major social and health problem, affecting the health, lives and economic status of individuals and communities. The school was organized to assist individuals in the fields of education, welfare, religion, medical, industry and law enforcement, to deal with the problem of alcoholism and its associated problems. The course is designed to present the latest scientific unbiased information from the best clinics and laboratories in the counter. Ways of applying this new information towards the solution of alcoholism are also demonstrated. To accomodate individuals employed or engaged in proindustrial and other fessional, fields, the course has been arranged to be of one weeks duration presenting the most possible material in the shortest possible time. Many national authorities will take part in the school as lecturers and staff. Featured speaker of the session will be Dr. Andrew C. Ivy, former president of the College of Medicine of the University of Illinois, who now serves as of the University. Dr, Ivy is also chairman of the National Committee of Prevention of Alcoholism. A distinguished pharmacologist and medical scientist, Dr. Ivy has become an outstanding authority on the problem of pathology of alcohol, as well as the social implications of alcohol use in excess. One of his talks will be The Role of Education in the Prevention of Alcoholism. Red Creek, along with Currant Creek will not open for fishing until July 9, 1955. All other phases of the earlier proclamation will be effective on the Red Creek stream.
