Show UINTAH BASIN RECORD here with Mrs. Brackenburys Thursday, June 18. 1953 BUM Mrs. Garda Seeley Go To New York To Meet Young Missionary Red-for- d It will be a wonderful three weeks for Mr. and Mrs. John Thorsen, of Bluebell, and Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Broadhead, of Utahn, who are traveling by auto to New York City to meet Calvin Broadhead, who is returning from a 2 Vi year mission to Norway. They plan on going out on the ship that Calvin is returning on. Norway is the birthplace of the Thorsens. Mrs. Thorsen, with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Johnsen, came to the United States when she was a small girl. Mr. Thorsen also came from Norway. Mrs. Broadhead, a daughter of the Johnsens and a sister of Mrs Thorsen, was born after her parents came to the United States. The Johnsen family has many relatives in Norway. Mr. and Mrs. Bruce parents, Mr. and Mrs. James W. Powell. Mrs. Powell accompanied the Brackenburys to Salt Lake City, where they will visit with relatives and attend the M.I.A. conference before the Brackenburys return to their home at Tacoma. Other members of the James W. Powell family visiting during the week were Mr. and Mrs Carl Powell and family, of Sandy and Mr. and Mrs. Joe and family of Ogden. Bobby Redford remained here for a longer visit with his grandparents. Mrs. Marie Laver and son, of Salt Lake City, visited on day and Monday with her sister, Mrs. Myrle Lisonbee and family. The Laver boy will spend the summer here with the s. Vemoa Winkler is enjoying an exciting three weeks vacation to Detroit, Michigan and other points of interest. She accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Ira Winkler, of Sandy, Utah. The occasion was the birthday anniversaries during the week of Wayne Jennings, Gardner Goodrich and Kirk Seeley. LaRae Goodrich, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arvil Goodrich, of Pocatello, Idaho, is visiting here with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Goodrich. Other little guests at the Fred Goodrich home are Claudia and Wade Goodrich, children of Mr. and Mrs. Rulon Goodrich. They are staying here with their grandparents while their mother, Mrs. Rulon Goodrich, goes back to her home state, Virginia, to visit with her folks. ATTEND CONVENTION Mr. and Mrs. Earl Dunsmore and Mrs. Clarence Jones made a trip to St. George last week to attend the American Legion Convention. Bill Clark and Miss Alta Jones of Salt Lake City, Aldon Chat-wi- n and Florence Wobley of Tabiona visited at Mr. and Mrs. Albert Clarks recently. Clmton Bowden made a trip to Vernal Saturday to take his wool. Gene Hatfield of Springville, who is now working at the old Watterson saw mill, took his wife to Lehi for a visit. Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Jensen of Rice and Mr. and Mrs. Ron Tugate of Ferron visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Ralphs Thursday. Mrs. Tugate is a sister and Mr. Jensen is a brother of Mrs. 'Ralphs. Cleo Clark is spending a week with her Grandmother, Mrs. Dan Gyggl In Salt Lake City and her Uncle and Aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Steve Kappas in Mapleton. Because of their skill and energy, because of their ability to adjust successfully to many changes over the years in the mining and processing of ores, they have aided in Utahs progress.
