Christ was born in very humble circumstances and from this lowly beginning He grew to become the greatest leader the world has known. Not great by military or political standards, but by standards of a higher plane, spiritual and moral. Surely God could not have given a geeateg. gift to mankind than His own Son, and the Son of God has given us the greatest gifts that are available the gifts of life eternal and the resurrection of every person who has lived en this earth. Since all of Christs gifts have been spiritual and He has discouraged the great accumulation of wealth and concentration of power, -t well to give ourselves in the service of our fellowmen as He has taught us to do. Not only on this day ought we have compassion for the poor and expression of love for those close to us, but we ought to carry this spirit with us always. For Christ has said that if we love Him we will keep His commandments. Also He said, He that is the greatest among you, let him be the servant of all! All mankind should on this Yuletide season take inventory of his life to see how nearly it conforms to the pattern of the savior of mankind. The future presents trials, tribulations, and sorrows for all. In order to meet these challenges successfully we must attain greater spiritual development. Christ once said (Matt. 11:28) Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me, for I am meek and lowly in heart; and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light. Duchesne is only a small town, but then, there are a lot of small towns in this state. In fact, in every state there are small towns, towns that you and I have never heard the name of, and out of those small towns have come a lot of men and women who have gone to the top in their state and in the nation in many fields. Behind this is the thought What are we going to dp in our homes this year at Christmas that will always remain in the minds of our children and will make them wish each Christmas that they could be home again, or make them plan to be there next year? Can we do something in this town this year to make it a happy spot for someone so they will want to come back for Christmas? I know a lot of our young people have to go away to find employment, but I am wondering if we could build a little more civic pride and pride in our homes that will make our boys and girls proud that they came from a home in Duchesne. At this time as bishop of the Duchesne Ward, I want to extend the Season's Greetings to you all and pray the Lord that your homes may be free from sickness, sorrow or want, and that the kind spirit of the Christ Child may rest in your home continually.
