Backman said, that it would be impractical to spend a large sum in an attempt to hold a worlds fair in Salt Lake City in 1947, and had conceived the idea of transforming the entire state into a natural fairgrounds. County committees have been set up and asked to submit lists of projects for their counties which' would improve, beautify and develop natural resources, and it is the hope of the commission that state funds will be made available to carry out many of these projects. In addition to the general development which is to serve as an atsion, traction to tourists throughout the season, specific activities are suggested for each county or each small group of counties to he carried on for approximately a week in each locality. As a suggestion Air. Backman pointed out the possibility of Duchesne and Uintah counties joining in a week of amateur rodeo some time during the summer. Tourists visiting the state during that week would be directed to such activity. A brief list of suggested development for the counties was read at the meeting Tuesday by Air. For Duchesne county the Day. commission had suggested development of toe Primitive Area, development of forest roads, and development of Moon Lake. Mr. Backman had earlier drawn attention to Duchesne countys reputation as a fishing paradise, and suggested toe building of hatcheries to insure a plentiful supply of fish for all visitors.
