In our Constitution, we the peopower to ple give all Congress. To protect ourselves we specify the matters upon which Congress may legislate, withhold any power to encroach upon mans inalienable rights and reserve all other powers to the people and the states. In theory these safeguards should protect us. But history shows that without some more binding safeguard, Magna Carta, the Petition of Right, the Body of Liberties and other famous charters became mere scraps of paper. Some additional check upon rulers and bodies Is needed. This our Constitution also provides by making the Courts our agents to interpret our Constitution and the laws passed thereunder. THANKS ANI) RESPONSIBILITIES With completed returns showing the election of your editor as a school board member from representative district No. 4, it becomes his pleasure to thank the voters for their support. As usual, the school election attracted only slightly over half of the registered voters to the polls, and even many of those who voted were brought there only by last minute efforts of those interested in the results. The position is far more important, however, than the interest in the election indicates, or so it appears to your editor, and the realization that he is about to step into this position tempers his gratification over the endorsement of the voters with the feeling of responsibility thus incurred. It is his hope that he can fairly and properly represent the taxpayers and parents in every precinct in the district-th- at he can see and understand the problems of each section just as clearly and impartially as would either of the two fine men who each received their imposing share of the ballots cast.
