Show BOYS BOY'S BODY 15 FOUND ij 1 Unity of or Action Wherein Roosevelt Roose- Roose elt velt And Myton 1 Help Duchesne Located the Remains Mile Below Belo Place Where Drowned Over Hundred Men Ien Work ork Last Friday Roosevelt and Myton Myton Myton My My- ton volunteers joined Duchesne in another attempt to locate the body of the year old boy the son of Mr and Mrs Gerald Blackburn who fell into the Strawberry n river river riv riv- ver v- v er near his home on February 9 and Saturday about a quarter of ofa ofa ofa a mile mlle below where death overtook overtook overtook over over- took the little fellow the remains were discovered It was a splendid exhibition of united effort two communities helping a third on a job that seemed seemed seemed seem seem- ed almost hopeless to many yet all aU urged on by more men and tools and the determination to at least try again Friday over a hundred men worked hard as far faras faras faras as tools permitted Saturday not so many men turned out from any anyone anyone anyone one of the three towns but over fifty and about 1130 the body was discovered Bus Eldredge of Roosevelt was I the first to see the overalls and immediately John Zimmerman of Roosevelt and several Duchesne men helped to clear away the sand and the body was vas recovered Having Having Having Hav Hav- ing been nearly two weeks under the ice the body was quite perfectly perfect perfect- ly preserved not frozen stiff and scarcely a blemish on it Everybody felt better The parents parents par par- surely a appreciate all that has been done and the people of Duchesne Duchesne Duchesne Du Du- chesne feel grateful for the kind assistance rendered by fellow citizens citi citi- citizens zens zens from neighboring towns Ice was two to three fee thick and almost to saw because because because be be- cause of sand and mud layers hence picks bars ice tongs and shovels and forks were used and anda ja ll a lot of them were secured the local blacksmith shop ship kept busy sharpening the bars arranging proper tools for dragging the river river river riv riv- riv- riv er bottom so that a thorough search might be made In places the ice layer was over three feet thick Snow was scraped off two or three teams were used to do this and scrape the blocks of ice away It was the fourth day of the search February 9 about Duchesne men worked hard and then the water was much higher and the c ceiling under the ice was not cut out causing the river to torise torise torise rise and flood wherever the ice was cut Again on the lOth Duchesne Duchesne Duchesne Du Du- Du- Du chesne turned out and tried hard but under the conditions the task seemed hopeless and Mr Blackburn Blackburn Blackburn Black Black- burn advised the workers to give it up Last Friday and Saturday it was cold below freezing keeping the river down and this smaller stream with the cutting out of the ceiling that had taken place made it possible to cut a channel near the main current take out the blocks of ice and proceed in ina ina ina a more systematic manner than was possible on the and But Duchesne as a community feels grateful for the friendly help afforded and relieved when the body was found Even with all the force at ha hand d and only half enough tools the task appeared not inviting Suits for those working working work worl ing in the water were none too numerous Bill Morrison of Myton Myton Myton My My- ton had the best outfit for that and he lie worked hard bard nearly all allday allday allday day Friday Bus Eldredge of Roosevelt held out in the water I too and J. J P.
