Show We received the following telegram last Wednesday. KANSAS CITY, MO., FEB. 0, 926. J. G. PEPPARD SEED CO., ROOSEVELT, UTAH. WE HAVE HAD AN ALMOST HOPELESS FIGHT FOR THE GOVERNMENT STAINING OF THE IMPORTED ALFALFA SEED. HEARING BEING HELD TODAY IN THE UNITED STATES SENACCOUNT OF FAVORABLE CHANCE GETTING THIS ATE. PASSED WE WANT FARMERS TO HAVE THE INFORMATION AND POST THE MARKET IMMEDIATELY OF FIFTEEN CENTS NUMBER ONE WHICH MAY CHANGE OF COURSE AGAIN DEPENDING UPON THIS LEGISLATION AND WHETHER IT IS PASSED IN A WAY TO BE EFFECTIVE IN TIME TO STOP SPRING IMPORTS OF FOREIGN SEED. This company has been working fo r this staining law i n order to PROTECT the MAN WHO BUYS SEED to PLANT from getting foreign alfalfa seed instead of Utah alfalfa on the one hand, and to PROTECT OUR UTAH ALFALFA SEED GROWERS from low priced foreign competition on the other. We posted the above prices so that any of our growers who had been holding their seed pending this legislation could take advantage of it without waiting for it to pass. We had no idea how long these prices might last for they DEPEND ON THIS LEGISLATION AND WHETHER IT IS PASSED IN A WAY TO BE EFFECTIVE IN TIME TO STOP SPRING IMPORTS OF FOREIGN SEED.
