Another conclusion that earnest, thoughtful voters will reach before election day is that votes given to the aged and decrepit, the halting, vacillating, braying Democracy are worse than thrown away. It requires but little brain work on the part of free people who are open to conviction, to become convinced that Democracy has practically stood still for the last fifty years. She is the party of negation and broken pledges, of organized incompetence. Her war cry is Whoe-back- ! Her policy has ever been to tear down, undo, discredit and annul all that has been done to make the Union great and glorious. Every vote given to Democracy is a vote favoring national decay and weakness; in favor of broken promises, vain pledges and jack ass principles. Another conclusion that will be reached, through thinking, by thought ful, studious, sincere seekers after political light is that every vote cast for the Republican state and national nominees is a vote for progression and advancement. To vote the Reticket this year is to endorse publican every move that has worked for the countrys greatness in the last half century and, on the other hand, each Republican vote cast is a protest registered against those who would change our present prosperous conditions for more of those black days of 93 to 96. tee. As one who has stood loyal to the Grand Old Republican party, in spite of the abuse that has been showered upon it by the Tribune (the Kearns organ), I enter my protest against such an unheard of proceeding. - It went very much against the grain when we learned that Chairman 3pry and others had gone to Kearns to coax him and Lippman to stay Republican. Some of us felt that what they needed was a clubbing instead of a coaxing and now to have this pair of asked to meet a senator who is coming here to talk for the party this pair is trying to defeat, is a little too much. I presume there will be party questions to be talked over, and the situation in Utah to be discussed, and do we want to have these men, our avowed enemies, in our councils. Do we not know that the Tribune columns have been a mass of misrepresentation of the Republican party? To any one who knows Joseph Lippmans ability to deceive' and misrepresent, it is enough to say it would be giving him the chance of a lifetime. As one Republican who resents bitterly the action of Kearns and Lippman, I protest against it. Instead of inviting them or recognizing them in any way let the Republican committee stiffen its backbone and recognize them to be what they are a pair of double-dyetraitors to the Republican can We get along better withparty. out them. They think they are big just now, but the bubble of greatness in which they float will burst and they will drop to political earth, a pair of miserable little polywumps. despised anti-Republica- ns . d . by everybody. REPUBLICAN. o OF COURSE. When Senator Dubois issued his spectacular challenge, etc., to Sena- tor Fairbanks, to discuss the polygamy question in Idaho, we called attention to it, the purpose of it, and made the prediction that the Hoosier Senator, and candidate, would ignore both the Idaho senator and his vice-president- ial and we further ; predicted that Senator Dubois and his Salt Lake would proclaim that the Republican candidate had dodged an issue. Our predictions have in both instances been verified. Senator Fairbanks is touring the country in behalf of the National party ticket, he is a national character, and there is no man, except perhaps the venerable and antiquated Henry Gassaway Davis, who could expect to have a challenge to discuss political issues even considered. Senator Dubois knew this, his know it, yet Salt Lake the sound and fury of the Dubois challenge was none the less brazen and the echo and wail of the Salt Lake none the less loud. In the meantime, perhaps, it would he just as well for Utah people to withhold judgment, as to Senator Fairbanks and the issues he is dodging, until they can have an opportunity to see and hear him themselves. We are very glad to be able to say that he will be here October 6th, and we invite all citizens, regardless of party politics, religous belief or prejudice, to come and hear him, and, if we are not misinformed as to his ability challenge Voters of Utah do you want actions Do you want deeds performed or pledges broken? Do you want to be citizens of a republic whose flag is respected the world over, on land and on sea, whose victories in war and peace not only astonish the world, but elicit the favor and admiration of every civlized nation under the sun; or do you want to be citizens of a republic that is so weak and negative and impotent, so criminally negligent in your interests whether at home or abroad as to become regarded as a joke by the other nations of the earth?
