"Fortunately, that could never happen," said the wise lady. The woman would find the letter first, and then she would mend the coat." New York Tribune. Jl Jl They say West Temple street is coming right to the front. It has in its vicinity three of the prettiest girls in the town, and after a brief space of time in which people may recover breath, figuratively, there is to be a matrimonial announcement from that quarter which will interest a number of people in a number of states. IN THE STUDIOS. Nordica has come and gone. Like the first breath of spring, leaving in its wake the perfume of violets, is the memory of her voice and presence. Truly it can be said that she was never in better voice and interest in the rare programme was added to by the Duss orchestra and other principals. Nordica had selected numbers for her Salt Lake concert which appealed directly to a local audience, and her rendition of each was followed by the most genuine outburst of applause. When she sang the well known Inflam-matus,- " with the choir and orchestra, the effect was sublime, and the enthusiasm of the house was remarkable. Mme. Fisk, the great contralto, was unfortunate in singing to the small audience at the matinee, but the critics and musicians present fully appreciated her splendid voice and tried to Si.ow their appreciation.. Salt Lake had never before heard such an orchestra as the one led by Duss. The strings especially were strong and full pf life, and the ensemble and" tone ialities of the whole as nearly perfect as can be. Messrs. Pyper and Stephens have reason to be proud of the artistic success of the concert. Jl Jl From the artistic standpoint, nothing more could have been desired in the work of Nordica, Duss, Franko, Fisk and the others. It was a perfect programme, perfectly rendered, but at the same time many things were apparent at the two performances which bore out the remarks in Truth some weeks ago to the effect that the Tabernacle is not the place for such a concert. r The matinee was a financial frost, and while .the house in the evening was 'very gbod, yet it did not near V Big Comfort Sale This Week Our comfort business this season has broken all previous records, our values have been simply astonishing and the prices never before equalled in Salt Lake.
