The proposition was not approved for the reason that it would be impossible to attempt the maintenance day of such a bureau at a place like Price, where facilities for gathering and diffusing information must necessarily be limited, even with the surrounding field in most active operation, as the headquarters of nearly all companies would be here. The other purposes for which the convention is called were supported and no desire was shown to do or say aught to discourage the plans to be carried out. ft The Whitmore Oil company of Price, Carbon county, has liled a copy of its articles of incorporation in the secretary of states office. The capital stock is $100,000, divided into 1,000,000 shares of the par value of 10 cents each. A. Ballinger is president, G. C. Whitmore, vice president, L. O. Hoffman, secretary, and J. M. Whitmore, treasurer. The company owns 52 oil claims situated in Carbon county. ft The Anticline Oil company, of Price, has filed a certified copy of its articles of incorporation in the office of the sec- retary of state. The company is capitalized for $50,000, divided into shares 0the par value of 10 cents each. The officers are Hyram Frandsen, president; Tnomas Fitzgerald, vice president; Lars Frandsen, secretary and treasurer; L. O. The rock is plentifully saturated with the oil. Experiments in distillation have been madewith the result that oil of the best grade has been obtained. ft ft There is some oil excitement at Toquerville in Washington county, where several thousand acres of oil land have been located. ft ft The prospect of the Denver and Northwestern railroad being extended has given renewed interest to the oil development work. The California people have renewed their operations in the Stinking Water basin. Another well is about to be started. The lumber is on the ground and the machinery is on the way. Utah-Colora- do ft ft The American Consolidated Oil com pany is, drilling three wells in the Spring Valley district. They are down from 400 to 450 feet and if expectations are realized pay oil will be struck within the next few hundred feet.The American company is composed of seven members only, all experienced oil men who have made fortunes in oil in California. They are working on the most approved scientific plan and are confident of success.
