Show TRU T H Deny Honor to Cresceus. The board of review has finally passed on the famous 1:59 record oi Cresceus, over the Wichita track last fall, and have declared it void, owing to an irregularity in the conduct of the meeting. This disposes of Mr. Ketchams application for the establishing of the record, but the board has seen fit to go a step further, and the secretary has been instructed to cite the association officers and all parties connected with the said meeting to show cause why they should not be penalized for fraud in connection with the performance. The presumption is that the board has evidence that not only the meeting was irregular, but the time announced was fraudulent The facts will not be known, however, until next fall, when further trial of '.he case will be resumed. o Has Jeffries' Time Come? Jim Jeffries and Jack Munroe, who will battle for the heavyweight championship on June 17, are being critically considered by the class of sporting men that make a specialty of speculating on the outcome of prizefights. They all go down and out sooner or later," said a New York sporting man, and it may be that Jeffries' time will come when he stacks up against Munroe. Terry McGovern was a 1 to 3 favorite over Young Corbett in their fight in Hartford, but that did not prevent his knockout in the second round. - When Munroe met Jeffries in Butte he landed some hard blows on the big fellow, and had him worried, even if he did not knock him down, as reports had it. Jeffries will reach the end of his rope some day, and if Munroe trains well he may be worth backing. o Claims Wrestling Championship. A. Gotch, who claims to be the champion wrestler of America, has returned to his home in Humboldt, Iowa, hale and hearty, after an absence of nearly eight months in the West. During this time he won the championship of America from Tom Jenkins; defeated all the best wrestlers the West could produce, won several thousand dollars as a net profit, while actually getting about $20,000 from bets and gate receipts, and won the hearts of all that section. Frank To Settle Supremacy Question. Mr. Billings announced some time ago that Lou Dillon would never trot behind either a pacemaker or dirt screen again. He desires to convince the carping critics, even though the; are scarce worth convincing, that Lou Dillons superiority over all other trotters, past and present, is unequivo- cal. l, plain-axl- e The sulky onco will also be and settled question for all. This was due to the fact that Coach Morely of the Columbia team spent a day recently with Manager Charles Baird. Mr. Baird said he could say nothing at this time concerning Mr. Morelys visit, but would do so later. The feeling among the athletes is that Michigan is nearer an Eastern game than ever before.
