Show T R U T FT. THE UTAH STATE GAZETEER GOSSIP. SPORTING The pugilistic encounter on Monday evening between Caesar Attell and George Baker was a disappoint inent to the audience for the reason that neither of the men seemed possessed of the slightest skill in the art of boxing. Two fellows, could have been picked off the street almost indiscriminately who Could outpoint either of them in a scientific contest. It was disappointing to the management, as both came heralded as clever fighters and men with some reputation. They did the best they could, however, and the knockout of Attell in the ninth round was genuine. The fight was on the square, but it was a poor exhibition of scientific fighting. The Herald, of course,, intimates fake which is in line with the knocking policy it has pursued since the present management took control of the Athletic club. It is a matter of easy remembrance that a. year or so ago, when nearly every exhibition given, by the club was a rank fake, the Herald boosted them all the time, in season and cut of season, and only made the discovery a few weeks ago that there had been any faking. Now everything is fake according to the Herald, past, present and future. 1903-0- 4.
