The sad news of the death of Dr. Joseph Parry, the eminent Welsh musician, was received in this city on Thursday last. No particulars were given, and his sudden taking off caused quite a shock to ins eilow countrymen in Salt Lake, as well as to many musicians, who became acquainted with the gentleman during his visit here in i898. Tue doctor was recently negotiating with Professor Stephens, County Clerk James and Deputy County Clerk Folland looking to his at the Tabernacle in November oi this year. His intention was to circumnavigate me globe, accompanied by his wiie and daughter. Dr. Parry was the most eminent of British musicians, and his name is a household word throughout the United Kingdom. It was only six years ago that his grand opera, "The Maid of Cefn Ydfa was performed by one of the leading companies of Englarid, and the success attending it was of tne .are gigantic order.
