Mitchell was formerly one of the leading mine operators of Colorado. At different times he was general manager of the Ute & Ulay mines at Lake City, Colorado; general superintend-! superintend-! ent of the Yankee Girl at Red Mountain, Colorado, and of the Enterprise at Rico; afterward general superintendent of the famous January mine at Goldfield; consulting engineer of the great Jumbo, and at present general manager of the Portland mine in Goldfield. Goldfield. Nov.. Sept. 18. 1905. Tu Hie rrrxlrtt-nt mill Hoard of Directum, The Illlzzuril Mlnlnic Company, Golilflrltl, Nevada. Gontlomon: At your request I Imvo examined tho Blizzard group of mines, slt-unted slt-unted four and one-half miles east of tho town of Goldllcld, In Nyo County, Coun-ty, Nevada, and bos to submit herowlth the following report: NUMI1EH OK CLAIMS. Tho Blizzard group consists of seven full and two fractional claims, or. In tho aggregate, 1E0 acres of ground. Theso nro bynnmo: Blizzard No. 3, Eagle Bird. Butcher Bird, Sunny Slope, Sparrow, Hornet. West. Swift Fraction, Bellovue Fraction. LOCATION OK PROPERTY. This group of claims Is located In tho eastern section of tho great mineral zono of Goldfield In the Goldfield mining district, Nyo County, Nevada. This section of the zone, which first shows prominently In the Red Top mine at tho western base of Columbia Mountain, Is nt present a center of very considerable activity. On tho zono nro situated all of tho most prominent mines of tho camp. During tho past eighteen months this belt of mlnernl has yielded over $0,0000,000, although tho deepest workings nro only 320 feet below tho surfnee. In all history of mining such a record has not before been equaled. . . .... SURFACE SHOWINGS. In no plnco along this mlnernl zono can more distinctively nattering showings bo found than on tho Blizzard I group. No less tlinn ilvo prominent quartz fissures stand out boldly abovo I tho surface, Indicating tho lino of vein formation that characterizes all portions of tho "Golden Horseshoe," as tho bolt Is frequently termed. These outcropplngs nil show pronounced mineralization, carrying mnng-nneso mnng-nneso or Iron, one of tho truest and most positive Indications of value nnd permanency. . , ... . In my examination of theso surface showings I took samples from every outcropping. All of them gave assay returns in gold, proving conclusively con-clusively that they aro all enriched by tho precious metal. Very few, If any, of tho great mines of tho district presented such pronounced Indications Indi-cations of tho occurrence of bodies of high grade ore beneath tho sur-fnco sur-fnco nt rclatlvo tho samo period of development, nor did I obtain such nattering nssay returns from tho Jumbo, Jnnunry or numerous other properties that nro now great mines, from surfneo ores. In view of theso facts, I consider tho Blizzard tho equal of nny property In tho district in proPI?I?t(1,jilL.'pUi nnd cionr tltlo to tho property Is vested In the Blizzard Bliz-zard Mining Company. , , CONFLICTS. I am unnblo to find, from maps nnd my own personal Investigation nny possibilities of conflict. All veins showing on theso claims npox In their own territory, thus assuring tho company nil oxtra-latornl oxtra-latornl rights that mny accrue to tho ledges. Surveys have been made by competent engineers, nnd posts have been sot at all corners, sides nnd centorpoitMATION. Tho surface formation Is porphyry, and Is Identically Identical-ly tho samo as that surrounding all of tho best mines of tho district. Thoro nre. In addition to tho five qunrtz fissures that crop out so boldly, decided Indications that several moro may ho disclosed with somn Intolll-fnnl Intolll-fnnl PsPect,lnEr- TI' width of theso dikes varies "trim twenty to sixty i.1; T."? volns iXT0 m?stly Puro slllcn or aro heavily slllolfled. Heavy ochre stains aro found In many places, and on nil sides may bo aeon Ttho most positlvo Indications known to mining of heavy and per mnncnt enrichment en-richment in gold. From every viewpoint tho Blizzard will comparo most favorably with anw undeveloped ncrcngo In tho camp. coll""-o most ASSESSMENT WORK. Assessment work has boon comnlotcd on every claim In the group, In strict conformity to every Toq h'ncnt dfstrlct"1 " Novadfl nnd th0 locnl 1'iws and customs of tho DISTANCE FROM 1VEH, KNOWN PROPERTIES. Tho Blizzard group of mines Is situated In direct lino with tho formation of tho main vein systems of tho district. This system Is Indicated at surface by a series of parallel dlko or fissuro cropplngs thnt have a north-of-oast nnd sputh-of-west- course. On tho Blizzard, theso dikes show boldly abovo the surface and nro distinct In outline. Tho vein systom roferrcd to Is boldly marked along Its course, passing from tho Bed Top through tho Jumbo, Combination, Florence, January nnd February, Atlanta, Lono Star Slmmcrmnn, C. O. D., Gold Bar. Dixie all mines of tho first Importanco and the Blizznrd, Windsor, Davenport. Into tho mnln bnckhono of tho Goldfield uplift represented by Knickerbocker and Blnck Cap mountains flnnlly disappearing, so far as surfaco showings Indicate, In tho desort to tho enstwnrd, ten miles away. Tho Blizzard is loss than a hnlf a i mllo awny from tho Dixie, which hns boon developed Into n groat mine with workings down to a depth of 320 foot. Tromondous bodies of ? medium grade oro havo boon blocked out In tho mlno nnd wait extraction. J They will not bo disturbed until tho mlno Is equipped with a milling plant. Tho DIxlo Is tho only mlno In tho eastern belt that has boon sys- ! tcmntlcally developed, nnd tho fact that It shows such lmmcnso bodies of good oro may bo taken as a guarantco thnt properties farther cast ! will develop Into equnlly as Important mines with Intelligent work. Thu surfneo showings on tho Blizznrd far oxcell thoso found In thnt locality, Indicating richer oro bodies than thoso of tho Dixie. ASSAYS, Tho following assay returns I obtained from samples taken at random from different ledges on tho property without nny pro- , vlous knowledgo of vnlues shown: No. 1, $2 gold; No. 2, 34.00 gold; No. 3, $1.70 gold; No. 4, $28.80 gold. REMARKS. In Its every fenturo tho Blizznrd Is an exceptionally nttractlvo mining proposition. Its ledges and outcrops nro as flno looking look-ing as any In this camp; tho proporty Is In every respect accessible, and presents no difficult features of mining; a good rood, opon tho year round, connects tho group with tho town of Goldfield; It Is not a dlllt-cult dlllt-cult matter to build a road to almost any Bpot on tho proporty. I consider con-sider tho Blizzard group In every senso worthy of thorough development, and firmly bellovo that an nggresslvo campaign of work will undoubtedly placo It In tho list of producers of high grndo oro of tho district. Respectfully submitted, J. F. MITCHELL, Consulting & Mining Englneor. Development Work on the Blizzard Has Just Been Begun.
