Utah Leader Thursday, October 7, 1965 Bridal Shower by Mrs. Leonard Petersen Miss Gloria Lewis was the guest of honor at a bridal shower at the home of Miss East Garland Honors Elderly Lady on Anniversary Jy Essie Peterson Mr. and Mrs. Lucien Mr. and Mrs. Joe Laws, Jimmy and Julie, visited Mr. and Mrs. James Beeton in Bountiful and Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Laws at Layton Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Grover were at the Leland Patterson home in West Point Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Dean Potter attended a Butler family at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Butler in Belmont Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Dyal Sorensen and family of Kaysville visited Mrs. Neomia Sorensen Sunday to show the new baby boy they had adopted a week ago. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Atkinson and family and Mrs. Reta Sorensen were in Malad Sunday for the birthday of their mother, Mrs. David J. Williams. Visit With Former Bishop Mr. and Mrs. Sherman Oyler, Clough spent three days of the week at Provo attending an Institute for the visually handicapped of Utah County. Mrs. Leland Hansen accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Joe Abbott to Salt Lake City Tuesday and saw their sons, Kenneth Hansen and Myron Abbott off for their stint with the Air Force. Mr. and Mrs. Lenard Hansen and Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Glea-so- n s of Logan visited the Han-sen- Mrs. and Sunday. Mr. Royal Petersen of Perry were also with the Hansens Sunday. Attend R. S. Conference Mrs. Eph Peterson accompanied Mrs. Rhea Christensen and Mrs. Howard Bingham to Salt Lake City Wednesday afternoon for Relief Society Conference. Mrs. Peterson remained the remainder of the week with her sister, Mrs. Harriett Morgan. She was dinner guest of Mrs. Jessie White Friday evening and a family Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Cole brought her home Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Elmer have their grandchildren with them while their mother, Mrs. Coleen Johnson is undergoing major surgery in Salt Lake City. The Elmers entertained Friday for George Burnham of California and Mr. and Mrs. Tom Logan of Las Vegas who had come in for conference. Mr. nnd Mrs. Vernon Shaffer and Dora came from Rupert, Ida., for conference. Mrs. Shaffer and Dora stayed with Mrs. Dora Shaffer during their visit. Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Johnson and family of Bountiful spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Roy Oyler. Mr. and Mrs. Dale Coombs were in Preston Sunday and visited Mrs. Ethel Kendall and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Hunt and family. Jane and Joe Student to Play in FFA Band James Deem, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Deem of Garland is one of two farm youth from Utah selected to play in the National F.F.A. band. Selected from past performance and upon recommendation of Gareth Larsen, Bear ifiver High School band director, James will become a member of a band made up of farm boys from every state in the United States, which will furn- - Milton Kinney and Dave Shrum of Lawton, Okla., who had flown out in Dave's plane. They attended conference the Kathy, Jane and Joe flew to the Tremonton Airport where they were met by Ted. The remainder of the party drove up with the Oylers and spent the night, flying out of Tremonton Monday morning. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Oyler took a little trip to Idaho Monday. Honored On 90th Birthday To celebrate her 90th birth- by Karen Stokes The Bothwell Ward Young Marrieds started the year with a traveling supper. Twenty-fou- r young marrieds met at the church house for appetizers and bingo after which they traveled to the LeRoy Firth home for supper and dessert was enjoyed at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Summers. Family Attends Conference Bishop and Mrs. Virgil Anderson and Pam drove to Salt Lake City and attended sessions of the L.D.S. conference Friday. Friday evening they attended "South Pacific" at the Valley Music Hall. Saturday the group was joined by Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Anderson and Mr. and Mrs. Reese Anderson. The men attended the priesthood session of conference. The group enjoyed sessions Sunday and a family dinner. Mr. and Mrs. John Laws had their daughter, Pauline, home for the weekend. She is living in Salt Lake City. Mrs. John Laws and Beverly have just returned from Denver where Bev competed in a Baton Conference with others from the Western Slates. Beverly came home with a 2nd place trophy for her age group.
