Show Head Start Development for Children Project Planned summer program during July and August is being attempted in every state of the union as part of the national War on Poverty program. Professionals, friends, and parents are neighbors, uniting to help children from poor families get ready for school this fall. Many of the children suffer from inadequate diets, poor or hearing, bad eye sight, teeth, and other deficiencies which curtail their health and advancement. Both urban and rural areas are to be included but rural sections where there is no community action agency to sponsor the Head Start Child school Center, Development districts, local governments or private non-prof- it groups are being encouraged to act as sponsors. Professionals will do the teaching. The National University Extension Association has undertaken to train 12,000 or more teachers for the centers.
