Show Thursday. October fol- - 2S. 19B1 Tha PROMONTORY pent Promontory Man Cause of Search fam EarJy Sunday morning deer hunting was forgotten for a few hours while all efforts were concentrated on the search for a deer hunter who failed to return Saturday evening. The sheriffs department was notified about midnight by friends of the missing hunter and a search party composed of members of the sherriffs department, the Jeep Patrol and local men on horseback was organized and sent out. About nine o'clock Sunday morning the hunter came walking back to his car unaware of the search being made for him. He had "bagged a deer on the other side of the mountain and realized when as he said "the sun went down in the east", he had to walk back over the mountain to reach his car. When the rain and snow came and darkness overtook him he found shelter for the night under a rocky cliff, resuming his journey the next morning. It was about noon Sunday before all the members of the search party could be reached and notified that the hunter was found. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Cobb and family of Willard were Sunday visitors of the Leo Flints for dinner and deer hunting. Mr. and Mrs. Al Krug and Terry spent the weekend in Morgan for the deer hunt. An interesting visitor of the Fred Macks recently was Mrs. Diny Van Dyke of Holland who was on a visit to the United States. She flew here after visiting relatives in New York and Washington, D. C, and was a house guest of the Macks for several days. During her stay Mrs. Marian Mack entertained at a dessert luncheon at the church and invited all the ladies to meet her guest. Mrs. Van Dyke left Salt Lake City by plane for Washington, D. C, then flew home to Holland. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Mack and son Charles are making preparations for a journey to Indonesia soon where Fred will be employed for two or three years on construction work. Fred flew to San Francisco to make some arrangements for the trip. The Macks who have lived in many different places say this is the first time they will be outside U. S. territory so they must prepare to take personal articles to last the entire time. and es go the : 100 he sions it of e two-wee- Helen Brown, Doran Nicholas, Maria Mack, Wanda Lar-se- n, Ardis Krug, Shelba Mc- Culley and Rosalie Wells were guests of LaVone Woodward for a party in Corinne on Thursday. The Promontory area will again be open to pheasant hunting this year on a limited basis. Only 100 permits are available from the local landowners and no public sale will be held according to Merlin Larsen, president of the pheasant association. Hot lunch will be sold on Saturday in the recreation hall and on Sunday at the school. The school children presented their Hallowe'en program on Tuesday in the opening exercises of Mutual. The Chournos children will return to their home in Salt Lake City this week and wanted the opportunity to participate in the program before they left. The regular Hallowe'en par- Ity will be held on the 31st under the direction of the Mutual and everyone young and old are invited. Mr. and Mrs. Roland Toombs visited the George Swans in Manila recently and due to the heavy snowstorm in that area had to prolong their Visit a few days. Because of the storm they were unable to see the Flaming Gorge dam.
