Show EAST GARLAND Bear River City By By Mrs. Blaine Rhodes Children Visit Mrs. Helen Johnson and children, Bobby, Marilyn and Douglas of Boise, Ida., arrived at the Roy Oyler home last Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Grover and children were in West Point Sunday. Mrs. Pearl Grover is finished with her ten weeks summer course at the U.S.U. at Logan. Mary Korth of Nampa, Ida., was a weekend guest at the Orval Grover home. The three daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Val Koller are staying with the Jack Austin family while their mother is in the hospital with another baby girl The new little miss arrived at the Logan hospital Thursday night just in time for her grandfather Potter's birthday. She weighed six pounds, six ounces. Visits Grandparents Blaine Potter, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dean Potter has been spending a few days with Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Potter while his parents took a short vacation. Mrs. Marie Olsen and daughter, Anita, from South Gate, Calif., were Thursday visitors at the Warren Hansen home. The Ladies Birthday Club "of East Garland invited their husbands to join them at a party held at Willow Park in Logan on Thursday, where they went to celebrate the birthday of Mrs. Ed Isaacson. A very delicious turkey dinner was the highlight of the event. Fourteen were present. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Smith and family of Fairfax, Mo., have been visiting in the valley for a short time. When they returned to Missouri they took Mrs. Edna Larson with them for a short stay in Missouri. Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Hansen of Salt Lake City were Sunday visitors at the Fred Peterson home. Sherma and Laralee Hansen were in Logan Canyon from Friday to Saturday night. Mrs. Sherman Oyler and chilr dren, Jane and Joe, went to Salt Lake City Sunday and spent the night with the Don Shaffer family. Nan Oyler, who has been staying with the Shaffers, returned home with them. Attend Reunion Mrs. Ellen Rhodes and Mrs. Mabel Oyler accompanied Mrs. Faye White, daughter Kathy and grandson Gregory Wheelwright to Logan Saturday where they all attended the Capener Andrea Huggins Mrs. Clifford Thorsen entertained in honor of her son Steven's seventh birthday Thursday at her home. Games were played and the little guests enjoyed a delicious lunch. Mrs. Thorson was assisted by her daughter, Mrs. Charlene Ohman of Brig-haCity. Mrs. Chester (Bessie) Christensen visited one day last week with her father, William Hamilton, in Bountiful. Mr. Hamilton is ill. Mr. and Mrs. Rodney Hansen and boys enjoyed a trip to Yellowstone, returning Sunday evening. Their small daughter Heidi stayed with her aunt, Mrs. Pauline H. Forsgren in Corinne. Charles Checketts and his daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. George Thornlcy of Thatcher attended a family reunion in Southern Utah last week. Varge Christensen and wife of Long Beach, Calif., were speakers in Sacrament meeting Sunday evening. They are visiting Varge's parents, Mr. and Mrs. and other Irving Christensen relatives. Report New Grandchild Mr. and Mrs. Christian Anderson are all smiles over a new granddaughter born to Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Anderson of Moses Lake, Wash., August 16th. This is the first girl for Ronald and Loris. They have four sons. Mrs. Chester Christensen was hostess to a lovely children's party Saturday in honor of her son Curtis, who was six years old. Bruce Wilde, son of Mr. and Mrs. Grant Wilde of Salt Lake City, is spending some time with the Ken Shaffer family. Mr. and Mrs. Norman Larson of Seattle are here for a few days visiting with relatives. Attend Party Mr. and Mrs. Louis Larson and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Larson attended a pot luck party held Monday night for the Sunset Riding Club. Mrs. Louis Larson was in Logan, Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Larson and children were at Bear Lake Saturday where they visited with Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Stock. While there they enjoyed boat rides and a swim in the lake. The Petersons leave Friday for a visit to Washington D. C. On their return home they are moving to Logan. A gift was presented to them at the party. Mr. and Mrs. Erie Compton were in Ogden Sunday where they visited with Mr. and Mrs. Frank Compton. They spent last Friday at Burley. Testimonial Held The farewell testimonial for LaVell Saunders, who is leaving for an L.D.S. mission to Australia, was very well attended Sunday evening. Carl Harris, Joan Theurer, and Don Kirby, B.R.H.S. student body presidency, are at Estes Park, Colo., for a week at Camp Cheley attending the National Student Council Leadership course. Larry Waite, Layton was a guest last week of Wayne Mr. and Mrs. Smith Waite and two children were at the Lee Hunsaker home on Sunday. Surprise Party The Ward Bishopric, Bishop Arthur Erickson, Owen Rasmus-seeRichard Harris and their wives were guests of honor at a surprise party held Friday evening. The program consisted of: trio by Fern Andreason. Clide Heslop and Mary Gardner; Hun-take- r. n. , Melba Crossen; and humor bits by Ed Heslop was enjoyed by the crowd. Games were played, under the direction of Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Christensen and Mr. and Mrs. Lee Hunsaker. Luncheon was also served. LaMar Cutler, president of the Special Interest class directed the evening's entertainment. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Stokes and family visited in Salt Lake City Monday. The boys were taken to the Zoo. Liberty Park, state canitol and Temple Square. Mrs. Thomas Abel is able to be at home for the first time since June 5, when she, Erma Furness and Allan Abel were injured in an auto accident near Lagoon. Mrs. Abel spent three weeks at American Fork with nor son John Abel and family and two weeks in Salt Lake City with Erma and Lionel Furness. Weekend visitors in Salt Lake City were Mr. and Mrs. Lamar Benson and family. Mr. and Mrs. Reed Miller, who have been at their ranch in Lima, Mont., are now at home. The "flu bug" got Reed and he was forced to spend several days at an Idaho Falls, hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Bronson and family of Placerville, Calif., spent a day last week with Joyce and Howard Stokes. Norwood Fridal Home Nodwood Fridal, who has been employed for the past several months at a jet plane plant in aacramento, Cahl., is at home helping with the grain harvesting. The Delbert Holmgrens spent some time recently in Yellowstone park. GARY CONGER HOME ON FURLOUGH MSgt Gary Conger arrived home on a 30 day furlough with his family. He has spent the past year at Elmendorf, Alaska with the Air Force. Gary's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ernie Conger entertained at a family dinner Sunday in his honor. Sunday guests at the Dean Anderson home were Ann Matthews, Bruce Anderson and two daughters, Salt Lake City. Ella Anderson was dinner guest of the Eph Jensens. They all attended a family reunion at Downata. Mr. and Mrs. Woodruw Truman, Kearns visited the Keith Andersons Sunday. Helen Fronk of Richmond who recently returned, from the Far East Mission, where Wayne Summers is now laboring visited with Wayne's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Summers this week. Doyle Nelson of Emmett, Ida., is visiting with Mrs. Edna Nelson. The Leyan Nelsons and Vern Nelson also visited with them. They all attended a family reunion at Carey, Idaho, - Sunday.
