March 14, 1957 FIELDING y, By Mrs.- Florence Munson - To Appear On Television A reminder that Val Leavitt will make his first appearance on TV this coming Sunday afternoon, Channel 2, on the Utah Talent Quest. Val will be accompanied in his singing by Mrs. Blanche Hansen at the piano. Good luck. Val. Returning from several weeks vacation in Southern Utah are Mr. and Mrs. F. W. Hess. They spent a few weeks at St. George after which they visited with Mr. and Mrs. Howe Loveland at Henderson, Nev. They visited Boulder Dam, Las Vegas, Lake Meade, and were houseguests at the home of Mrs. Hess' sister, Mrs. Elsie Arnn at Ely, Nev. On their return they were dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lemoine Hess and family at Ogden. They report that before they left St. George that the apricot and almond trees were in bloom. Mrs. Ben Francisco and daughters Kathy and Jackie of Lay-to- n and Mrs. James Burt of Ogden spent Wednesday visiting with Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Munson. Mrs. Munson accompanied them home and remained overnight. Mrs. Elma Petersen accompanied by her daughter, Mrs. Arlene MacFarland and daughter Judy of Riverside spent Thursday at Bountiful visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Claine Petersen and family. The Social Development Club was graciously entertained at the home of Mrs. Mabel Hansen Thursday afternoon. Mrs. Elizabeth Packer had charge of the program and presented nine of her "4th grade students who sang songs and gave recitations. Those participating were Sherry Bourne, Randy Richards, Lora-li- n Grover, Steven Welling, Quinton Hess Jr., Tanya Burnett, Steven Skinner, Jay Earl and Charles Pulver Jr. A lovely luncheon was served to seventeen club members and the program guests. Mrs. Hansen was assisted in serving by her daughter, Mary Ann Hansen. The next meeting will be at the home of Mrs. Clark Rudd on March 21st. Mr. and Mrs. Uel Garn accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Lawr Mrs. Rhoda Welling chaperoned six girls to Salt Lake City for several days last week where they attended the tournament. The girls were Mary Ann Shum-waDeeAnn Garfield, LuAnn Newton, Tremonton, Marilyn Hendricks, Garland, Arta Ann Hansen, Beaver Dam and Tamra Welling. They visited at the homes of Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Welling and Mr. and Mrs. Jay Welling and family. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Holt spent Friday visiting with their daughters, Mrs. LaRee Whitney and Mrs. Viola Stokes and families in Ogden. Miss Sylvia Burton spent Friday and Saturday with her sister, Mis Marguerite Burton in Salt Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. Gene Leavitt were dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Abe Grant at Logan, Sunday. In the evening the Leavitts had as their visitors Mr. and Mrs. Lee Monson, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Dewey, Mrs. Edna Shaw, and Miss Lois Dewey of Brigham. Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Mason spent Sunday at Brigham. Spending Sunday with relatives at Farmington, Layton and Kaysville were Mr. and Mrs. Steve Potter and children Oleen, Brent and Janeal. Mr. and Mrs. Don Potter and small daughter, Denise, were dinner guests at the home of Mrs. Potter's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Karl Benson at Logan, Sunday. Mrs. Sara Moss and Mrs. Elsie Welling spent Thursday at Salt Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. Dan Kent and children spent Sunday with relatives at Malad. Mr. and Mrs. Verl Udy spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Lake City. Miss Verlene Udy, Pharon Apgood and family, Salt who had been spending a few days at the Apgood home returned home with them. "Roping Club" Meets The "Roping Club" was graciously entertained at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Val Leavitt, Saturday evening. Those enjoying a delicious Pot Luck Dinner were Mr. and Mrs. Duane Mad-seMr. and Mrs. Jack Hansen, Garland, Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Roche of the Hillside Ranch, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Bennett, of East Tremonton, Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Cornwall Jr., Riverside, Mr. and Mrs. Verl Coombs and Mr. and Mrs. Keith Coombs. The evening was spent in a social. Miss Alice Robbins accompanied by her friend, Lola Earl of Tremonton, spent Friday and Saturday in Salt Lake City. Visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Holt, Wednesday, were Mrs. Viola Stokes, Mrs. Arlene Tayson and two daughters of Ogden. Show Colored Slides Mr. and Mrs. Glen Severson entertained a group of friends at their home Saturday evening, where they enjoyed seeing colorand ed slides of California Southern Utah. Refreshments were served to Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Richards and daughter, Florence, Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Bourne, Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Hansen, Fielding, and Dr. and Mrs. A. N. Barker of Brigham. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Garn, Mrs. Madge Anderson and Mrs. Ida Cannon spent Friday evening at Salt Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Wood and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Wood spent Sunday at Hyrum visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Clair Lund-ber- g and with Mrs. Ray Wood's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Lundberg in Logan. The dinner party was to celebrate the wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Clark Rudd, and the birthday anniversaries of Ross Rudd, Jimmy McCullock and Rhonda Rudd. Mrs. Effie Potter and Mrs. Lucille Potter were visiting in Logan, Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Emery Hess spent several days of last week with relatives at Salt Lake City. Stake The dinner was cooked and served by members of the Deweyvil-l- e Relief Society. A program followed the dinner and Reid Jensen was Toast Master. Vocal solos were given by Stanley Stokes and Marjean Ostler, Nephi. An accordian solo was played by Pamelo Anderson and Mrs. Stanley Stark sang. Glenna Dawn and Monty Smith did a tap number. Following this, Reid Jensen entertained the group with tricks of magic. Registration will be held on March 14th and 15th from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Only those persons who register can be examined at the center. In making this announcement the Cancer Society and the Salt Lake County Medical Society wish to point out that in order to be eligible for examination all applicants must bring a written referral from any doctor consulted by them in the past year. As the name indicates, complete examinations are not given but are directed at only those areas of the body where cancer is thought to exist. Patients are referred back to their family doctor for further diagnostic procedures andor M-M- 1.
