S. Army in the Panama Canal Zone in South America. Welcome home, Jerry! Another service man heard from in our town this week. Pvt. Lowell Dunn, U.S.M.C., son of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Dunn, writes that he has arrived in Honsh.ua, Japan, and will be there for the coming year. Members of the Girls Basketball team and their coach, Bertha Gardner, were happy last Monday night. They were victors in a game with girls from Tremonton 2nd Ward and were presented a brand new basketball for their efforts. , June Marble, Inez Barnard and Bertha Gardner were hostesses to members of the Friendly Circle Club, Thursday night, at the Marble home. A lovely dinner was served to those present and the evening was spent sewing and visiting. 77th Birthday Another party at the home of the Charles Peterson's. Guest of honor was Mr. Peterson's father, Elmer Peterson, Penrose, on his 77th birthday. Dinner was served to the guest' of honor and all his children and grandchildren. Sunday guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Doug Burbank were Mr. and Mrs. Spencer Ahlmer and family, and Gus Ahlmer of Ogden. Miss Ton! Peterson has returned to B.Y.U. in Provo after spending several days at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Peterson. A card received from Alvin and Lydia Norr who are spending the winter months in Arizona says they are enjoying their vacation and the weather reports from here at home give them the shivers to hear. Miss Rita Jean Cannon, Ogden, came up to spend the weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thales Cannon. On Sunday, all the Cannon family were dinner guests at the home at Mr. and Mrs. O. G. Harwood in Ogden. Master Dennis Zinck celebrated his seventh birthday with a party at the school oh Monday. Present were the members of the first and ' second grades. Games were played and to the refreshments served little folk by his mother, Mrs. Darlene Zinck. Visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Fryer this week. On Friday, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Thompson, Yost, and Mrs. John T. Hansen, East Tremonton, Caddie Gardner and Mrs. Cleon Hunsaker visited with them. Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Scheib, Pocatello, Mrs. Barbara Stoneberg and daughters, .Christine and Cathy, Nampa, Ore., and Mr. and Mrs. Merlin Fryer and children of Clearfield called at the Fryer home. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Warnke drove to Salt Lake City Sunday to see Mr; and Mrs. M. E. Hall and Stan. Attending a birthday dinner The annual Gold and Green Ball was held in the ward hall Wednesday night. Music was furnished by a Clarkston orchestra. A good crowd attended. A floor show was given by the Mia Maids of the ward. Flowers were sold at the door, the proceeds of which were put in the building fund. Mr. and Mrs. Jay Macfarlane accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Kennard went to Salt Lake City Monday where they visited relatives. Work meeting was held Tuesday by the Relief Society. It began at 12:30 and consisted of basket weaving and work on pillow cases, towels, luncheon clothes etc., for the annual bazaar next fall with Inez Johnson in charge. The lesson, "Irons and Ironers" was given by Effie Welling. Sixteen members were present. Mr. and Mrs. William Silvester visited Tuesday in Ogden with Mrs. Van Peterson, Mrs. Welling Zundel and Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Silvester. The ladies of the Birthday Club met at the home of Mina Ward Thursday afternoon. Eleven members enjoyed the pot luck dinner and a social hour. Visit at Home Capt. and Mrs. Don Adams and son Donnie ' of California for Mr. Rulon Ladle in Mendon on Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. Lou Spackman and their family. Bob Sled Party Explorers and Mia Maids met d for a party a week ago Tuesday night. After the sleigh rides were done, they joined together with their leaders, Yvonne Ashby and Myrl Perry, in the Recreation hall for chili, cocoa and doughnuts. There were 24 young people in on the good time. Weekend visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs.. Don Page were Mr. and Mrs. Argel Stone and children of Ogden. ' Attending funeral services in North Ogden, Saturday, for Mrs. Harriet Spackman were Mrs. Evelyn Spackman, Mrs. Horace Barnard and Mr. and Mrs. Lou Spackman. A welcome home dinner was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. James Barnard in honor of Jerry Barnard Sunday afternoon. Members of the Barnard clan came from near and far for the occasion. Those who came were Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Heusser and sons, Mr. and Mrs, Grant Marble and children, Collinston, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Swander, Ogden, Mr. and Mrs. Dorel Barnard and fam. ily, Roy, LaRee Fowers and Jackie Barnard, Ogden, and Mr. and Mrs. Horace Barnard. Hold Comraderie Silver Gleaner Girls held their Comraderie at which the girls entertained their mothers. The event was held in the Recreation hall under the direction of their leader, Mrs. James Barnard. Mrs. Bessie Calder-woo- d was a special Stake visitor. After the program, refreshments were served to the 21 people present. and Mrs. Ray. Walker of Ogden visited Mr. and Mrs. Art Ward Thursday evening. Mrs. Walker spent the night and went to Ogden Friday morning. Bishop Leland Capener is spending several days in Montana. Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Davis went to Provo to take their two grandchildren home after they had been here while their parents,.
