SET stake meeting for high councils, Lies, REGISTRATION ft EDITORIAL The following letter was received this week from County Commissioner Orlando Dick) Allen: Wednesday, Aug. 23, 1950 Editor, Bear River Valley Leader, Dear Sir: It is difficult for me to follow your editorial as of August 17. First you say the commissioners have ordered a freeze order on publishing their minutes. Next it is one commissioner, then you hope the commissioners will see fit to reconsider their action. For your information, one commissioner cannot and does not make the policy for the commission. The commissioners have never considered freezing the minutes. After they have been approved and ordered filed. they become the property of Box Elder county and are opened at the request of any citizen wishing to see them. I recall upon occasions giving you my own copy of commissioners minutes. I have read the editorial in the Brigham paper. Not once did it refer to a freeze by the commissioners. Therefore I feel justified in asking that you omit the word commissioners from your editorial; better still give them this letter for their information ' Oblige. Orlando Allen. Note: In fairness to Mr. Allen, he has been very cooperative in releasing information to the Leader. Our interpretation of the refusal of the county clerk to release the minutes, was that he had been instructed not to do so. Since our editorial of last week it now appears that only one member of the commissioners has deemed that action necessary.
