Theda Smith, 346 North 1st West, Trej monton, collects recipes, not coins o stamps, just recipes. And she has quite a collection to show of too. Theda's recipes are not contained ij one recipe file, but three tightly filled onesf This isn't all either, she has three notf books filled with recipes she has clippej i out of papers. Sounds like a lot. It is, but this isn't a yet. She also has printed recipe boot published by different ward Relief So -ety's around, the area. ,4 Smith's love fousecipes has lead) a soon-to-b- e project in the First WaJ Relief Society in which she serves asi counselor. This project is to put togethet ward recipe book by having each sistem the ward donate one or two recipes to fe I ; cause. Theda comes from quite a large famf . She fits in the middle of a family of eat children and you probably can guess wit they do at their family get togethers. Rirt! They eat and share recipes. Followingde meal, the table is still used, but onlypr writing down the recipes of the foods ey j ,..,4, just ate. Theda, and husband George S. Sith have six children of their own: Dr. Dafell Smith, Mrs. Tom (Carol) Johnson, irs. Mike (Linda) Rawlinson, Sandra, Iry I and Dee. They also have one foster child &ce Chiquito One of the hobbies of the Smith sisfs is to try and collect new recipes, juglike their mother does. "As soon as I get hew and recipe I like, I send it to my daughteij a they send them to me when theyjhd good one." "It works both ways.JMrs. I Theda Smith commented. Grace Chiquito, who is living tHyear with the Smith's on the LDS hurch Lamanite placement program, cohient-e-d that eating at the Smith home a lot different than eating at her home, p says that they eat a lot of the same thinj while at the Smith's they hardly have 0 same dish. You wouldn't if you had frecipe collection as extensive as Theda One of Grace's favorite recipes fmback home is Fry Bread. This is a reef Theda is yet to add to her collection and ich she vows to try. This is how Grace remembers precipe. She says you add about 3 or 4 cufof flour, 1 teaspoon baking powder, aboJ cups of water, 2 teaspoons of salt and 1 Ispoon of a doe of powdered milk. You mix them il the usual consistency and roll pf es f de : nnii khd vnvt thn hallsre flatted until they are as thin as possibipen they 1 are fried in hot grease. "We always go on the outskirts of Tremonton though," Theda laughed. Once in a while they also get out and walk a ways. Vacationing is probably the Smith's number one hobby when they have a day off from work. Theda is employed part-tim- e at Cowley's and George is an agent for the Union Pacific railroad. Vacationing partners for the Smiths are Theda's two sisters and their husbands. Each year the six of them plan at least one big trip because they "like to do the same things." Among places they have visited are the World's Fair in Seattle, Washington; California, and southern Utah. Mrs. Smith has fond memories of the World's Fair. Most of all she remembers walking around the fair with blankets wrapped around them because it was so cold and they forgot their jackets. She said a lot of fair visitors saw the six of them and thought they were part of the Indian display. The Smith's ten grandchildren are also one of Theda's main hobbies. She says they especially like grandma to make cookies and candy. The cookie jar is always kept handy with a stool for the children's easy access. Theda concluded by saying, "Well the SRR Club is also one of my hobbies, at least it is once a month." She said she would like to conceal the meaning of the SRR. So make your own guess. Here are three recipes selected from . Theda's many recipe files that you might want to add to yours. Try them.
