The seniors honored are Steve Anderson and Jim Arnold, both seniors. This duo in the 1958-5- 9 are runners-u- p competition. They rate in the top two or three per cent in ability of the senior students In Utah high schools. This distinction places the two Bears on a preferred list for prospective scholarships awaiting seniors. Seniors interested in scholarships to Utah colleges are urged to contact Garland Puzey, Bear River counselor, since college scholarships are offered yearly to deserving graduates. Some scholarships are based primarily on financial need and scholastic ability, while others are based entirely on merit. Still other scholarships are given to graduates who have special talents in high-ranki- specific fields. As in past years, scholarships will be available from the University of Utah, Utah State University, Brigham Young University, Weber College, and southern Utah colleges. Vocational schools and trade colleges also offer a liberal number of scholarships to interested seniors who show talents in fields covered by the respective schools. Results of tests given seniors during their three years at Bear River can serve as a factor in aiding seniors in determining the college of their choice and the scholarship for which they apply, Mr. Puzey states.
