HORSLEY At Riverside Edna Ward has been in Salt Niel Anderson and Clair Stokes left last Wednesday for Los Angeles, Calif. Lake City for some time and returned Christmas night. Mr. and Mrs. Ferris Macfar-lan- e came 'home for the Christmas vacation from Buhl, Idaho and Ardene Macfarlane came from Ogden to spend the holidays with the Macfarlane family. Mr. and Mrs. Dee Weese and Children, Tremonton, and Mr. and Mrs. Ken Hanni and children, Ogden, visited the Austin Udy family. Mr. and Mrs. Karl Welling went to Evanston to visit Mr. and Mrs. Blaine Welling for the holidays. ' Mr. and Mrs. Paul Ward and daughters came up from Salt Lake City and Rayola Walker of Ogden visited with the Art Wards. Mr. and Mrs. Nyle Mangum, Salt Lake City, visited Sunday night and Monday with the Ed Udys. We are happy to report Alf Capener is well enough that he could come home for the holi days after being in Ogden to have medical care for a couple of weeks. The entire Russell Capener family were guests of their parents at a farewell dinner Monday for Homer and LaMar who leave early next month for the Mission field. Mr. and Mrs. Keith Gardner and son, Moab, Mr. and Mrs. Reed Sorensen and baby, Salt Lake City, and Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Capener, Ogden were out of town guests. Christmas Day, Mr. and Mrs. Les Coombs served dinner to Mr. and Mrs. Russell Capener and family,- grandfather, Alf Capener and Robert Gardner. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Marsh and family, Willard and Doris Marsh of California spent Christmas Day with the William Bowcutts. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Hollist, Farmington, spent Christmas Eve with Mr. and Mrs. Leland Bourne and Diane Bourne, Kays-villspent the long weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leland Bourne. On Monday they went to Farmington to celebrate the 85th birthday anniversary of Mrs. Annie Bourne, mother of Leland, at the home of his sister, Mr. and Mrs. Tracy Hess. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Silvester, Ogden, and other relatives visited at the William Silvester home Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Grant Hirschi entertained for Homer Capener Wednesday night. Ward Parties Held The annual Primary Christmas Party was held in the ward recreation hall Monday night. A good crowd attended and enjoyed the program and the visit from Santa Claus. The annual party for the Ed Udy family was held Thursday night at the church house. There were 71 of the 74 family members and 2 visitors present. A hot dinner was served and a visit from Santa Claus completed the evening. A special Christmas program was given in Sunday School and Alma Larkin of the High Council visited and represented the Stake Presidency. The chapel was filled and everybody enjoyed it. The family of Mrs. Agnes Burnett met at her home for Christmas dinner. Horsley was elected President and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Box Elder County Bank, to complete the unexpired term of the late LeRoy D. White. Mr. Horsley comes t6 this position after serving as a Director of the Bank since it's organization on December 31, 1952, and he was one of the original incorporators. Mr. Horsley has been active for many years in Civic and Service organizations in Brig- ham City. He has been President of the Box Elder Chamber of Commerce, President of the Brigham City Golf and Country Club, and is presently serving as President of the Brigham Rotary Club. He owns and operates Horsley's Seed Store at 131 South Main, Brigham City, which is a retail and wholesale outlet for all types of seeds, and he also operates a Seed Cleaning and Treating plant at the same address with a Bonded Warehouse at North Brigham. Utah Turkey Growers Elect Guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Hall Christmas day were Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Utah turkey growers gave a tremendous vote of confidence for the work done the past year in guiding the state's turkey program when t.hpv incumbent officers of the Utah iurKey federation. The surprise vote came at a director's breakfast held during the Eighth Annual Utah Turkey Show held in Ogden last week. Named to a second term as president of the Federation re presenting one of the leading turkey producing states in the nation is William A. Barlocker. St. George, owner and operator of the Barlocker Farms and Hatchery. Elden Westenskow, Moroni, was vice president and J. David Carson, Utah State Agricultural College, Logan, was named executive secretary. J. Arza Adams, Pleasant Grove, a member of the government advisory board and Utah's representative to the National Turkey Federation, stated that Utah leads the nation in turkey production per capita. He said that turkey production this year was nearly three million birds, an all time high for the Beehive State. Mr. Adams indicated that the officers of the Uath Turkey Federation handle many thousands of dollars annually in promoting turkey on both the state and national levels.
