Show THE LEADER. Tremonton. Utah Thursday. August 11. 1955 public Invited To See Radar SA O W Traffic Control Demonstration By Mrs. Christine Peterson The residents of Utah are invited to a public demonstration of the latest innovation in Utah to help prevent traffic accidents and save lives. A special radar demonstration car will make a tour of the state, beginning August 16th at Salt Lake City, and will conclude its tour at Cedar City on Saturday, August 20th. The car and technician are being provided by the Center for Safety Education of New York Univers-it- y as a public service, in connection with the nationwide "Slow Down ond Live" campaign this summer. Traffic judges, and law enforcement officers are also being invited to witness the demonstrations which will show how the radar equipment measures the speed of automobiles, its accuracy and dependability, and how speed violators are apprehended. The demonstration tour will coincide with the initiation of radar speed detecting devices on basis by the Utah a state-wid- e Highway Patrol. The radar units have recently been delivered to the Patrol, and are being installed in patrol cars. "We want every motorist to understand the reason for and method of operation of this equipment," said Lyle Hyatt, of the Utah Superintendent Highway Patrol, "because such knowledge will contribute to his own safety and that of others, and also afford greater protection to our own officers as well by eliminating, in many hazardous cases, extremely chases of speeders along a busy , highway."
