June 23. 195S Bicycle Races Slated This Saturday Spence Baby Buried At Plans Summer Wellsville Program Graveside services were conducted Monday afternoon at the Wellsville Cemetery for Joyce Spence, infant daughter of Mark and Wilma Hyer Spence of Garland. The baby was born June 18, and died the following day. Surviving are her parents and the following sisters, Colleen, Peggy and DeAnn Spence, Garland; and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Alex Spence, Wellsville; and Mrs. Elaine Hyer, Lewiston. Fire Warden J. D. Gunderson met with the couny commissioners at their Monday meeting to consider the fire control program for the summer season. Mr. Gunderson has a number of cards to be placed about the county, giving phone numbers to call in case of forest or range fires. After consideration, it was decided to have such calls made to the Brigham City police department, where someone is on duty sixteen hours a day. The calls will then be relayed to the county officers. A report was given the commissioners, that a $100,000.00 treasury bill owned by the county is coming due soon. The treasurer was authorized to reinvest $50,000 of the amount. After consideration of the question of county commissioners attending national conventions, the county attorney gave the opinion of the attorney general that expenses for such traveling should be taken from the allowance of the commissioners. A request from the State Fair asked that a woman from the county be appointed to serve as contact between the home arts department and the county exhibits for state fair exhibits, The matter is now under con sideration. Under the sponsorship of the Tremonton Jaycees a bicycle race for youngsters from 7 years up will be held Saturday, June 25, beginning at 2 p.m. The race will be held on South First West in front of the fire station. Races will be in the 7 to 10 year-aggroup; 11 to 12, 13 to 14, and from 15 years up. Prizes will be offered for first, second and third place in each group. Anderson Baby Dies Tuesday These two cars, a 1950 Chrysler, and an Olds mobile 4 door sedan, show the result of a collision Sunday, one mile north of Collinston. Sunday Accident Injures Three An automobile accident Sunday afternoon one mile north of Collinston sent three to the local hospital for treatment of cuts, bruises, and lacerations. Karen Anderson, one day old infant daughter of Donald R. and Rayone Joy Miller Anderson died Tuesday in an Ogden Hospital. She was born June 20. Surviving are her parents, Bohwell, one brother and one sifter, Alan and Marilee, grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe Anderson, Bothwell; Mr. and Mrs. George L. Miller, Penrose; and great, grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Edwin B. Seegmiller, St. George; and Mrs. Nels Anderson, Salt Lake City. Graveside services were conducted Wednesday afternoon at the Riverview Cemetery, where burial was in charge of Rogers Mortuary. Bishop Deloras Stokes conducted the service. mid-afterno- Portage Couple Visits Missionaries And Places of Interest In East Bishop and Mrs. Walter E. Gibbs of Portage, recently returned from a trip into eastern Canada where they visited their son, Sherman, at Kingston, Ontario. Sherman is a missionary for the L.D.S. Church in the Canadian Mission. During the weekend Bishop and Mrs. Gibbs accompanied Sherman and his companion to Ottawa for their district conference and while there also enjoyed a visit with President Duane Kerr, son of President and Mrs. Clifton G. M. Kerr of Tremonton. Enroute to Kingston the Gibbs stopped at Niagara Falls where they spent an afternoon with Elder Norman Rose, son of Bishop and Mrs. Smith Rose of Tremonton, who is working there as a missionary. Returning into the U. S. the Gibbs' visited with Mr. and Mrs. Byron Hall at Dayton, Ohio. Mr. Hall is a son of Mrs. Vera G. Hall of Portage and a nephew of Bishop Gibbs. They also visited with former mission field friends of Bishop Gibbs in Louisville, Kentucky and of Mrs. Gibbs in Indianapolis, Indiana. A most enjoyable part of their trip was visiting church historical places of interest including Palmyra, N. Y.; the Kirtland Temple near Cleveland, Ohio; Nauvoo and Carthage, Illinois and from there fol lowing the Pioneer Trail home to Utah. were Francis J.
