June 2, 1955 FIELDING By Florence Munson Club Holds Final Party The Book Lore Club met at the home of Mrs. Marion Kirby at Garland Wednesday evening for their final meeting for the season. The Life Story of Lillian Roth entitled "I'll Cry was reviewed by Mrs. Irene Peck. Delicious refreshments were served by the hostess assisted by Mrs. Myrle Udy to twelve club members and one guest, Mrs. Ellen Capener of Riverside. Election of officers for the coming year took place with 'the following ladies being chosen: President, Mrs. Faye Fryer; Vice Mrs. President, Myrle Udy and Secretary, Mrs. Ruby Farnsworth. Retiring officers are Mrs. Myrle Udy, Mrs. a Helen Severson and Mrs. Petersen. Mr. and Mrs. John E. Coombs and sons Ray and Dale attended a dinner party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Harris at Ogden Sunday in compliment to Alvin Harris who was celebrating his birthday anniversary and for his small son, Alan, who was observing his first birthday. Dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Bourne Tuesday evening were Mrs. Sylvia Iverson of Woodburn, Ore., Mr. and Mrs. George Gardner of Bear River City, Mr. and Mrs. Cleon Anderson of Tremonton, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bourne and Mr. and Mrs. Lamar Bourne and small daughter, Debra. Herman Lott accompanied by his daughter, Mrs. Belva Skinner and Mrs. Carol Stenquist of Tremonton have been spending several days visiting with relatives a Joseph, Utah. Visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Welling and family the past week was Miss rhebe Welling of Salt Lake City. Mrs. Emeline Florence of Morgan has been spending several days at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. O. Hendricks caring for her mother who is very ill. Mrs. Leona Standing accompanied by her daughter, Mrs. Lila Miller of Tremonton spent Tuesday at Ogden. Visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John E. Coombs and family the past two weeks were Mrs. Delia Harris and two children, Julene and Alan of Ogden. Miss Faye Coombs of Ogden at the spent the weekend Coombs home. Visiting with friends and relatives at Farmington Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Bourne. Mrs. Milton Hodges spent Thursday at the LDS Hospital at Logan visiting with her mother-in-laMrs. Hannah Hodges. Honored On Birthday Mrs. Frank Wood was complimented at a party given in honor of Jher birthday anniversary at her home Thursday evening. A lovely luncheon was served and the evening spent in a social and games. Quinton Hess, Ross Wood and Vern Petty accompanied a group of deacons to Lava Hot Springs Saturday where they enjoyed swimming, a weiner roast and games. About eighteen were in the group. "Although the Dairy Festival has been held for the past two years, this year we are going all out to make it the biggest yearly celebration in Cache Valley", Mr. Baughman said. The event pays tribute to the Dairy Industry in as much as seventy five cents of every dollar earned in Cache Valley can be traced directly or indirectly to Dairying. Friday at 8:00 A.M. all dairymen and their families will be served a free pancake breakfast. The other activities during the morning will be a modern farm implement show with all of the latest modern farm machinery on di?play. Following the implement program the Future Farmers of America and the Four-clubs will present a dairy cattle show. Friday afternoon a street will be blocked off and the farm implements will be on display for everyones inspection. Other events such as archery, a garden show and horse ' shoe pitching will- be enjoyed by everyone who wishes to participate. On Friday evening, the stores will remain open until 9:00 P.M. Among the evening events will be the judging of window displays in down town Logan and the Cache Dairy Darling contest. A big parade will start at 10.00 A.M. Saturday morning. The parade is expected to have bands from most of the state as well as others from Idaho. VALLEY |
