Show THE LEADER. Tremonlon. Utih EAST GARLAND Essay Contest on Soils Open to Nation's Youth by Mrs. Eph Peterson SYLVAN KORTH IS REPLACED AS CLERK BY HARMON PIERSON BY PAUL R. DANIELS A change in the Bishopric has become necessary with Sylvan Korth who has served as ward clerk for the past two years, moving to Idaho. The change was affected Sunday with Pres. Charles Wood and Pres. Vera-aiJohns in attendance. He was replaced by Harmon Pierson. The Korth's have sold their place and bought another at Nampa, Ida., and plan on being settled there by the last of the month. The family will be sorely missed as Sylvan came here when just a lad with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. F. G. Korth. He has resided here since, and has been very active in the ward in all the auxiliary organizations and Bishopric and has served as a stake missionary. His family takes an active part in church work, in the Primary, M.I. A., and Junior Sunday School. John Larson Visits John Larson Jr. of Fort Worth, Tex., has been visiting relatives and friends here for several days. John is one of the home-towboys who has made good in the aeronautical field. Having worked as a designer of airplanes now he is with the Vaught Aeronautics located between Fort Worth and Dallas and is in the designing of guided missels and the promotion end of it. On this trip he is recruiting graduate engineers from the University of Utah the U.S.A.C. and the Un iversity of Wyoming at Laramie. Mrs. Mel Barlow and daughter left here Thursday and Friday morning to rejoin her husband who has a home ready for them at San Diego. Mr. and Mrs. Marion Soren-se- n were Salt Lake City visitors Monday. They were in Ogden d n Og-de- n ..Friday. Mrs. Sorensen was in Ogden Tuesday evening to see her daughter, Lenis Christensen, in a three-ac- t play in the ward in' which she lives. Court of Honor The Scouts presented the Sunday evening service and held a Court of Honor under the direction of Sherman Oyler. Speakers on the program were Dick Oyler, Richard Shaffer, Wayne Hansen and Carl Harper, and Warren Hansen. Receiving 2nd class badges were Ried Pierson, Jack Oyler, Carl Hansen, Wayne Hansen, Carl Harper,. Richard Shaffer and Ferron Sorensen with miniature pins presented to their mothers. Steve Grover, Brent Riser and Jack Oyler received some merit badges. Mrs. Harmon Pierson entertained for Ethel Ann's 7th birthday anniversary Wednesday afternoon. There were 6 of her girl friends who participated in the fun.
