Show THE LEADER ed the Church of Jesus Christ Mrs. Swinyard Buried Monday, Funeral services were conducted Tuesday in the Garland ward chapel for Mrs. Clara Nicholls Swinyard, 92, who died Sunday after a month's illness. Bishop Duane Archibald conducted the service, and Mary Castletton played the prelude and postlude. Prayers were ofLee Thompson and fered by Floyd Stohl, and speakers were Patriarch John C. Benchley, C. E. Smith and Bishop Archibald. Nell Puzey read a tribute written for Mrs. Swinyard by a grand daughter, Virginia Swinyard Parkin. Music for the service included two duets by Evan Gee and Ethel Forsberg, "Far Away Land", and "A Perfect Day", and a vocal solo, "I Know That My Redeemer Lives" by Harold Castlcton. Burial was in the Logan City cemetery by Rogers Mortuary, and the grave was dedicated by Edward Oldham. Mrs. Swinyard was born Nov. 18, 1860, in Kent County, England, a daughter of James and Fanny Gilbert Nicholls. She was reared in England, and join Saints in Septemof Latter-da- y ber, 1881. She was married to Henry F. Swinyard in England Dec. 22, 1883, and they came to the United States two years later. They settled in Logan, and the marriage later was solemnized in the Logan LD.S. Temple. The family moved to Garland in 1909 and resided here since. Mr. Swinyard died May 19, 1939. Mrs. Swinyard served as V ho trick shot 4 a Relief Society teacher in Logan First and Garland L.D.S. wards and was active in genealogical and Temple work. She operated a maternity home in Garland e for a numand was a ber of years. Survivors include two daughters and one son, Mrs. Beatrice Wright, Garland; Mrs. Marie Jensen, Salt Lake City, and Bert Swinyard, Deer Park, Washington; 18 grandchildren, 59 and four mid-wif- one sister, Mrs. Annie Pettett, Eng land. fu-tu- e. y, Odell Bradshaw Named To A Son For Sherry B. Cliristensen Honored Mr. and Mrs. Irving Christen-se- n entertained at a family dinner Sunday in honor of their son Lt Theral Christensen, a helicopter pilot, who has been doing such a fine job in Korea. The grandchildren were there too. Dee was the only one absent and while they were eating dinner a phone call came and it was Dee and his wife Carol, calling from Franklin, Indiana. Tremonton, was recently named as service-safetdirector of Maumee, Ohio. The appointment was made by Mayor John E. Henderson, subjeet to confirmation by Moumee City council. Mr. Bradshaw subbmitted his resignation to Mayor Stanley Welker of Lima, Ohio, as assistant engineer of that city. He has been employed by the city of Lima since April 1947. In the new position, Mr. Bradshaw will be in charge of the street, sewer, water, fire and police department of Maumee. His salary is $7,200 a year. Carl Hendersen, who is returning to the States from French Morocco. They will pick up a new car in Detroit and will do some sight seeing before returning home. They will also visit Mrs. Hendersen's sister, Mr. and Mrs. Gail Hamilton at Belle Fontaine, Ohio. Mr. and Mrs. Austin Johnson spent the weekend in Afton, relatives.
