Show MUCH RESPECTED PIONEER MOTHER CALLED IN DEATH mrs ann white lee one of the oldest pioneers of this city and the mother of a much res pecked family d died fed of senility at the age of 85 years at her home in this city tuesday following a ten days illness mrs lee was born at bealby lincolnshire Lincoln shire england 1 1836 and was baptized into the L U D S church at the age of 13 years she with her parents immigrated to america for the cause of the gospo gospel arriving in salt lake city october 1849 in the company of ezra T benson in the year 1862 1852 tho the family settled in jocele tooele and the deceased had the distinction in connection with her sisters mrs mary herron and mrs susanna dun who still survive her of be being no the oldest living pioneers of this city mrs lee was married to samuel F lee in january of 1853 and in the year 1862 they were called on a mission to dixie they remained on this calling for five years before returning to thoele tooele the deceased labored in the relief society organization as treasurer for nine years under mrs mary ann atkin aikin and her fai faith caithin thin in the gospel dospel she espoused when but a child remained steadfast until the end of her mortal life she was the mother of eleven children seven of whom survive her namely mrs A C tanner and andal H W lee of salt lake city J W lee of eureka utah E W lee of brigham city S W lee our city marshal mrs R M shields and mrs F J barber of this city her husband died some 27 years ago besides the two sisters mentioned above she is survived by other two sl sisters s mrs amelia pickett of marion idaho and mrs eliza hate hale of logan utah A 70 grandchildren 84 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren also survive this much respected woman funeral services where held in the south ward church yesterday afternoon at 2 the meeting house was crowded with relatives and friends of the deceased the horal floral offerings were profuse six grand sons acted as pallbearers pall bearers bishop E M atkin conducted ze the services the stake choir under the leader eider ship of M 11 and A M nelson furnished music A duet by mr and mrs W leo isgreen and a soto solo by mrs kathryne johnston were also rendered dur ing no the services elder matthew offered the opening prayer president C alvin orme C R mcbride and A J of the stake presidency were the speakers each delivered words of praise on the life of the deceased and words of comfort to those who were caused to mourn elder eider peter M clegg offered the benediction the interment was in the too ele city cemetery the grave was dedicated by elder george F R le ichards bards jr of salt lake city |
